new buyers wait month or two , you should see rebates appear due the cold weather and slumping sales . Go to TOYOTA website about 2 > 4 days into new month to look for incentives in your area or neighboring state(s) . The state next to you may have larger discount than yours , so may be worth a border raid depending on how far you'll need to travel .

We got the dealer to lower the price by $880.00 . But they wanted the sale. Plus ther Yaris and Prius are selling like crazy here. So they could of said no.
They said that they have been selling about a dozen Yaris a week.

Yeah, Yaris and Prius are still selling well despite gas going down to $2.31/gal here; I guess folks expect it to go up again sometime in the near future. Larger, gas-hogging vehicles you can get a deal on; but economy cars are still very limited when it comes to negotiating.

Plus, the closest "next state over" is over five hours/330 miles away. Living in southcentral Texas, things tend to be kinda far away from each other. Going west from here, El Paso is 7½ hrs/550 miles away...

Cheers! M2

don't wait too long though, next summer will probably see higher prices for economical cars as demand grows along with gas prices and suppliers get supply in line with the decreasing numbers required to meet demand.

I wouldn't count on that . The COROLLA sells well and now has a $500 > 750 rebate . With the economic crunch I lean towards an incentive for the YARIS . Have to see how this pans out in the next few months .

Corolla's are built in the US and Canada while the Yaris is built in Japan. Therefore there are a lot more Corolla's available in this country as opposed to the Yaris. Compared to the number of Corolla's and Camry's(both built in the US), Toyota doesn't ship that many Yaris's to the US. The same thing goes for the Pirus. It's only made in Japan until 2010 when it will start be produced at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Mississippi, Inc. (TMMMS)

some of the '09 COROLLAs are built in JAPAN , know this because came down to a '09 COROLLA or the '08 YARIS sedan , YARIS won . Being built in JAPAN doesn't mean squat for quality these days from past and present experiences , derived from test drives of TOYOTA / SCION cars and the 2 YARIS we have .

This year (late January early February) they had $1000 Cash Back or 0%APR Financing available for the Yaris Sedan (no cash back on LB) in my region. If gas prices continue to drop I think we'll see incentives again for the Yaris early next year…

Which is still why there is an overflow of Corollas and very few Yaris's. My local dealer has 20 Corollas and no Yaris's....

Why not?

Theres no such thing as a "special order," only a "preference order," which really isn't an order....it's kind of like playing the lotto.

well , the YARIS now has 0% financing for 36 months ( saving hundreds of $ compared to a 3.9% loan or > , kinda like a rebate  ) . So , that tells me that sales are slower due to the economy ( layoffs , less risky loans , etc. ) , weather conditions , upcoming holidays followed by tax time ( less $ to buy car ) , the lowering of gasoline , etc.. We've been to several TOYO dealer lots and their YARISes are not selling as quick . I know that after 3 months the cars they purchase have to be paid for ( bank loans ) , so profit margin starts to slip .

toyota is tricky , showed the YARIS during the t.v. commercial for 0% . That's :bs: . But at their website no mention of the 0% for it  . Makes me less of a fan for TOYOTA .

$500 rebate on the 4 door sedan.

$500 rebate on the 4 door sedan. so it's half the truth . Found this out by calling a dealership . I believe there's 2.9% for 4 years and 3.9% for 5 years as well on the '08 sedan . Bummer , was hoping for all YARIS , especially the '09 4 door L.B. :frown: .

The reason they are doing this is because the 09's are hitting the lots. If a customer is wanting to buy a Yaris and they have the choice between a 09 and a 08, more than likely they will choose the 09(even if they cost a little more but has more standard features). Therefore Toyota must offer some type of special on their remaining 08 Sedans they have setting on the lots to get rid of them.

quite aware of the reason to move the '08s . The new T.V. commercial by TOYO does not suggest this . So , looks like all YARIS  .

You CAN get an 08 Yaris right now until Jan/09 with 0%apr. for 36 months.

I am looking at them. I would get an 08 before an 09 to save on the interest but I'm still learning about them.

Interesting...a dealer I've been haggling with in my area just called me yesterday to mention that the Yaris is now offering 0%, OR $500 cash back.

Didn't ask him whether that was for 08s or 09s.

For N.Y. state it's the '08 Liftback and sedan , not any of the '09s . In PENNSYLVANIA it's only the '08 sedan . None of the '09s . So , it varies by region for the '08 model . All 09s are excluded for the U.S.. WHAT A BUMMER :frown: ! Otherwise would consider trading in the '08 2 door L.B. for the '09 4 door Liftback  .

confirmed...the dealer "forgot" to tell me that the cash back/0% APR was for 08s, not 09s.

I don't like dealers...
