Mabey I Should Go for Low MPG Record?

With all of you trying to get the best MPG out of the Yaris, perhaps I, in the interest of science, should try to see what the worst MPG I can get out of my new 09 Yaris?

Shouldn't be too hard. Turn it on, lock the door, and let it idle all week. 0 MPG

Darb you're a genius! I'd do that right now and get the crown but that would mean I couldn't drive the car for a week. I'm still so giddy over my new 'motor cycle with 4 wheels' I am making up excuses to go places just so I can drive it.

I agree. I'm just so happy I've been getting an average of 35 mpg. A big step up from my Tahoe which got 15 mpg! I don't understand all these people that are whining over getting 35-40 mpg with threads like "why is my mpg so low". I'm thinking . . . . . "ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?" Just can't make some people happy.

Run your AC with city driving and you'll get under 30 MPG. My worst was 27.5 MPG.

I used to get 12-14 mpg if I drove my prior car, an Rx7 gxl, in a "spirited" fashion. I swear you could literally watch the needle move down in that vehicle.

an average of 33mpg city/highway mixed is freaking awesome imo. My ford ranger with a 3.0l v6 got an average of 14 city/highway mixed.

Im hoping to raise my mpg and change my driving style/habits when my ecometer comes in the mail.

whaaaaaat? lol

yeah let's waste money on gas!

I bought a yaris to save gas, not to drive it like a race car to get my worst mpg.

but hey, if someone does do it, post the results ;P i'd be interesting seeing what i'm missing out on, while driving like a granny

I've tried for bad, but not the WORST mpg. I drove mostly city, a lot of AC, lots of gear limiting, junk in the trunk, heavy acceleration - I still only managed to get down to 29.something.

You're not sitting at enough traffic lights. That burns a lot of gas with the AC.

Something in the neighborhood of 30 hours of idling will empty your tank.
