Cornering

I've had my 1300 06 AT Vitz for about 2 months now and I've noticed a couple things. Since this is the best place to ask:

I find that the car does not accelerate right away at times. For example on overtaking someone, I'd want to pump the gas a little to go into another 'gear' and the car just takes it's own sweet time. A friend of mine said it's the VVT is that true?

Also in cornering, the car feels as if it slows down when turning corners. I'm moving at an ok speed, I go to break a little, turn and exit out the corner and i get nothing, it just slows down. Is it because of the whole 1.3 litre thing? Is it becuz itz less power? Is this quite normal?

Yes, you are in the wrong section, but concerning your questions... I dont know if you mean it takes a while before your car reacts to the pedals, that would be because of electronic throttle control. Unless you mean it takes its sweet time to give power then of course that is because of the low powered engine. With the second issue, im not sure if you have ABS, if you do then that could be it. But also it has to do with technique of turning a corner. Obviously if you brake and take a turn slow, dont expect to come out of the turn going with speed. you need to keep the momentum on turns because of our underpowered vehicles. Just trying to help

Yea it takes a while to me comparing it with the other cars i've driven which were bigger engines. I just wondered if it was normal. Yea i do try to keep the momentum but...sometimes just doesnt happen. I guess it would take some getting used to.

Thanx tho

Sorry, I call it like it is. It's my slow 4 banger beater, which I love driving btw, but fast it is not.

I have supercharged toys for when the speed bug bites.

Awww. Don't feel bad. It takes a while to get used to it, but eventually the car grows on you.

I meant my old VW (not my Yaris), in case there was a misunderstanding! I used to have to "plan" for hills...

sadly, the auto transmission has been recognized as being really bad almost across the board; slow to downshift, and power sapping. The smaller engine has to be rowed through the gears to keep it on the boil. An auto 1.3L is pretty much going to be an economy car all the way, I'm afraid... You could go the hyper-miler route, and enjoy your fourty-something mpg on the other hand

Hey you know what? It still handles very well... You could mod it for handling and take it on some downhill twisties and have some fun! One of the major appeals of this car is how well it handles...
