Another one bites the dust

Well sadly I was in an accident, and my car ended up being a total loss. I've enjoyed being part of YW forum, but I think I'm going back to the Honda camp. I'll still be lurking around. If you want to know what happened, I hit a patch of black ice. Ended up going into a telephone pole at 50mph. Luckily I was wearing my seatbelt. I walked away from it with a few scratches from the air bag, bruises from the seatbelt, and neck and chest pain. I went to the hospital and everything was fine. The car did it's job. I'll be around, It's been awesome being a part of YW. Take care everyone

Ouch.. black ice sucks. Glad you're ok and the car did its job. 50 mph into a telephone pole and you walked away with minor cuts and bruises - that's amazing

Glad you're okay, sad about the car, sadder about your decision to go Honda. Fact is, both manufacturers are nearly equal, far better than most others...

Thanks everyone. Insurance has already taken care of everything. The accident actually happened 2 weeks ago, I just didn't post anything until I knew what was going to happen with the car.Total loss, obviously . I ended up walking away with a few hundred dollars which is better than nothing. I was nervous I was going to be upside down. I'm shoppping around for 99-00 Civic EX 2 dr or 4dr. That's what I had before the Yaris. The Civic was a great car, but I'm definitely going to miss my Yaris. Just wish I could have pulled all the performance parts off it, to so someone else can benefit from my loss. Insurance said If i take anything else off the car, it would depreciate the value of the car

Assuming you are talking about your own insurance, I am curious what right the insurance cmpany has to tell you not remove aftermarket parts that are not covered. I can understand if you had your coverage adjusted to include aftermarket parts but if they were added afterwards and not covered, they should be removable unless, of course, the insurance company includes their cost in the payout as well. If the accident is the other driver's fault and his insurance is paying, you should be able to demand to get the parts or payment for them. I suppose threateing to take them to court might help them agree?...
