Package received from Taiwan!

Just received my package for TDM Yaris Sport Version HID unit last night, looks pretty cool! It has a HID light in it, as well as a seperate halegon light as high beam, and a parking light. So I think there should be no problem keeping the DRL on this unit.

One question though, this unit has an extra plug that I don't know what it is for. I will post up some pictures tonight when I get home so everyone will understand the concern.

One problem I have is with this connector, I don't know what this one is for, as the 4 wire plug already takes care the HID, parking and halegon bulb. It would be nice if someone can shine some light on this, thank you!

*might* be for Auto Level. My BMWs had this, and if you look just above the socket, there is a round adjuster. Is there a way to take a look behind that plate? There may just be a small servo behind there. If so, its a worthless feature for the US Spec cars.

Why is it worthless?

I tried look behind that plate through the big whole where you access to the bulbs, but I can't see where that connector goes to, but the round adjuster above, I can see it links to some screw, so I know it's an adjuster, just don't know what that module is for... if it is indeed an auto level, then I will just leave it alone.

One thing I should point out, I only took pictures of the LH headlight, which that extra connector is unplugged, but on the RH side, it is plugged and the wire is connected to the main connector, again, I don't have the pictures now, maybe I will post them tomorrow so everyone will understand better.

And can anyone confirm if that halegon bulb is ok to be used for DRL and high beam? It is 12V55W, while the HID is 12V35W D4R, and the parking light is 12V5W, are they the same specs as US specs? Can I just route the wires to the connector directly? Thanks!

take your time! They will work, but you need to know all the details. I'm looking into this too in case you can hook me up as well, lol

Looking at the pictures again, I have a feeling you're going to have to do some custom wiring. I thought when you said separate high beam you meant like the kits where it's integrated into the same bulb as the HID..

You may just have to follow the last diagram I posted in the other thread after all... Here it is for reference:

You're gonna have to bust out the multimeter and figure out which wires lead to the ballasts, and which lead to the high beams.

I'm checking the manual for info on the connectors
edit- Hahaha... The connector list is 10 pages long... Uh.. Gotta find a Taiwan service manual...

Can you take a pic of the ballast plug for me? I haven't seen pics of their D4S/D4R ballast before.. It may be the same as their D2S. This would keep you from having to chop anything else up if you can find the plug..

Most European countries (and I'd guess others) require that the headlights "self-level" when you add a load to the trunk or whatever so the lights don't shine up into oncoming traffic. Without the sensor and circuitry, you won't be able to set that part up. If that's what that connector is for (and from your description, it sure sounds like it) just ignore it.
