Yeah there will be 4 or 5 more layers. and also 6 or 7 layers on the top part too. And I am thinking of porting them But then I might also eliminate some of the space in the middle when I put my amp in. Then it will be two sepparate boxes and each can be big enough for each speaker. We'll see.

Really now...do you know if the subs are even suitable for porting? Better yet..since your on the porting kick what should he be tunning them to? Larger sealed enclosure will reduce the max power he throws to it but will also gain him a bit in the lower octaves. Depending on the sub it could very well be too little airspace for a vented enclosure (once you allow for port displacement within the enclosure) or even still  it could be even too small for a pair sealed. The port in the middle is less than ideal as well. Doesn't appear to be enough depth in there to route a decently sized port in there. I realize that you may be half kidding but I figure I may as well pad my post count while I'm here . |

ok question, most subs have their own recommended cu enclosure, do the esa's and pioneers have the exact same recommended cubic footage?, i made my box to the mb quart spec. it was recommended sealed so i was able to save some space since i didnt have to port it. at least you got the idea, for hatchbacks tis better if your subs fire upward. at least it doesnt push against your hatchdoor. i have put little feet on the box to reduce vibration and its a nice spot for keeping the amps. it wont sound right if the box is the wrong size.

Actualy you almost always get more volume from the subs facing the hatch. Not every single case (I can think of one or two examples) but but damn close. That being said...my latest enclosure for my Suzuki faces up as well EDIT: I should qualify that statement. If your just listening to music and not competing in the db lanes arguably you can mount them any way you'd like to. Facing them to the back tends to give you more volume because the hatch reinforces the sound (much in the same way home speakers tend to sound louder and/or better in the corners of the room). It also helps cancel out 2nd and 3rd order harmonics making the soub sound a bit cleaner. |

you really have no clue what your talking about do you??? its a proven fact, in a hatchback type vehicle aim the subs up, in a trunk aim the sub towards the rear of the car. its been proven scientifically... BUT, never mind that shit, aim them the way they sound best to yourself...I have mine aimed towards the rear of my trunk...

Either facing up or out towards the hatch both have good results in a hatchback car. I've done it both ways and was never disappointed.

nice
I really like that setup Turbo, I was thinking of doing something of the sort, I just lack the know-how. Aren't you afraid of your cargo hitting the woofers?

one off = one of a kind, not produced in quantity.
