Subs. I need help
I need a little help. I want to install a custom box and some subs. The box I understand ow to make. But the subs, What Should I get 2 12's or 1 15" and what would be a good brand and wattage (RMS) to get as well as the amp for it. I Want a really great sounding sub that hit's hard. But I also don't have a lot of cash.
Thanks guys.

whats your price limit?
For something that hits nice and low but can take some pounding a fairly nice wattage check out the Kicker CVR15. It's a big a** sub that is 500rms 1000 peak and will be plenty loud. Luckily its also very cheap for being what it is, A brand new 2008 model sub is only 122-130 on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-KICKER-COMP-VR-15-CAR-AUDIO-CVR15-2-OHM-SUB-WOOFER_W0QQitemZ220296884065QQcmdZViewItem?hash=it em220296884065&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3 A1208|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318 you could match it up with either of these two amps, the kicker would be a bit more. Kicker ZX500.1 $239.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-New-Kicker...d=p3286.c0.m14 HIFONICS BXI606D $150.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/HIFONICS-BXI606-...d=p3286.c0.m14 Both will power it nicely. If you go with the HIFONICS amp then the sub would need to be Dual 2-Ohm, if you go with the Kicker itll need to be Dual 4-Ohm

Sounds nice and all but I only have at most 100 bucks to spend on the sub alone. Will this limit me to 1 12" insted of 1 15"
I remember on my first car I installed some Sony Explodes 6 1/2 when I was fixing the stereo that was busted. I have seen 12" explodes at different stores from 59 bucks and up, what do people think of this brand. I know the 6 1/2 I installed sounded really nice, but I don't know about there subs. I don't really want it to be outrageously loud I don't want to spend my money so other people outside my car can hear it. I just want it to sound good in my car.

They sound just as good but just a little less loud. You dont need much when it comes to having a yaris, its remarkable how far a little goes in this car.

you can't expect much from $100 in subs. I mean, you can get loud with less money, but the more money you spend, the easier it is to get loud.... and with less distortion.
If you are familiar with making boxes, I'd say pick up a Dayton or Tangband 10" sub and put it in a ported box. If you aren't familiar with making properly tuned ported boxes, then I'd say pick up a 12" sub and throw it in a sealed box. This right here is about the best 15" you'll find for $100 http://www.parts-express.com/pe/psho...60&ctab=9#Tabs this tells you how to make the sealed box http://www.partsexpress.com/pdf/295-560%20sealed.pdf |

I have a basslink and i think it its plenty loud, i had a Pioneer Premier 12" sub and it rocked
I agree with The Architech you really don't need much in a LB, sedan owners may want to go with a little more kick, like two 12's.

Is a 10", shallow mount, 250W RMS sub powered by an Alpine PDX-5 amp. good enough for a LB?

u dont need much, but why not do 4 10's. i wanted to be different, but i would say just get a quality sub that u have amp to power and build a box to specs it needs and it should sound great in a small car like this.

Talkin' to me?
I only want one sub.. I want to mount it in a hidden box that fits in / on the spare tire and that's easily removable. I've spoken to someone that makes these types of sub boxes and he's going to try making me one, but the max sub. size I can use is a shallow 10". |

i was just making a suggestion. i would say do 1 10" and make sure u match a amp with the same rms the sub has and make box right air space and should sound good.

I'm looking at this sub.:
Pioneer TS-SW2541D 10" 4-ohm shallow subwoofer http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...0&i=130TSS2541 and this amp.: Alpine PDX-5 5-channel amplifier http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500PDX5/Alpine-PDX-5.html This is what I had in my previous LB (mounted under driver seat): Kenwood KSC-SW10 Compact powered subwoofer http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...0&i=113KSCSW10 I hope that the 10" shallow Pioneer above sounds better than that powered Kenwood I had before. Oh and sorry for stealing your thread Midon. Last edited by IsLNdbOi; 10-25-2008 at 03:20 AM. |
