Even with it's morning breath I don't think I could ever hate my Yaris.

There is an oil discussion in every auto forum that I belong to. For me Mobile 1 is the second best oil money can buy after Amsoil(creators of syn. oil). In my yaris I switched to syn. at first oil change. I am changing my oil every 7500 miles with Mobile 1 5w30 and toyota oem filter. I am currently at 70k and the old oil always looks great when I change it with what seems no consumption at all. There is zero sludge build up anywhere I can see. For my money this is the best combo. I am not planning on driving the car for 300k+ but if it comes down to that, I am confident that my engine will be in great shape.

BTW the only real synth with esters you can get here is Redline, maybe AMsoil SSo. And maybe BP GC green (vintage) but GC is not for the Yaris as it's >3.5 HTHS and around 12cSt at boiling = too thick for the lil yar. Remember PAO base is not a good boundary lubricant, has poor film strength, and is not stable at high temps w/o ADD packs to prevent oxidisation. Di-ester is all these things and is the only REAL synthetic if you're paying 7-10 $ a qt. All that said Mobil formulations are better now than last year when they had a hiccup. Mine is just kind of a musty stinch that lasts maybe 3-4 seconds; never did it last season. Found the perfect cure tho'...Fram FreshBreeze cabin filter toned it down some, so I tried giving the dash a mint (The BUG Air Freshener) ...placed it on top of the cabin air filter

Ah, you have a little mildewy lint in your air conditioning. I was speaking of the exhaust. E10 is ubiquitous here.
