You can't get a set of plates around here (British Columbia) without proof of insurance. And, the basic insurance at least comes from the government (ICBC). In American eyes, this must be another one of those Canadian "socialist" things like our government medical insurance. Don't get me wrong, I'm all in favor of both govt car insurance and medical - they limit the scope of personal financial disasters.

Sorry about your car - I hope it all works out in the long run.

WTF? What are you supposed to stop 20 ft from the car in front of you at a light?

+1. On all points.

Sorry about your car. Uninsured motorist is a must out here! But seriously, there are some good female drivers, some bad. Some good male drivers, some bad. Maybe you just always come into contact with the bad ones?

In Ontario at least, if you are rear-ended and end up hitting the car in-front of you, you are 50% at fault, no matter what.

Just as stupid as if you hit someone from behind you are automatically 100% at fault no matter what, even if you couldn't see them or they cut you off.

Stupid insurance rules are stupid.

I fully agree with you, it's not the chromosomes that are the main cause here, it's the reduced number of brain cells... But I'd give him a break... I'd be pissed too if I were in his shoes...

After reading this thread I'm amazed at how many people took offense at the op's Y chromosome line. Are people getting sensitive lately or is it my imagination? Personally I thought the line was a funny way of venting after a bummer of an experience.

I drive for a living and I can divide women drivers into 4 or 5 groups. I can divide men into probably 3 groups. hehe Men are afterall much simpler beings. My point is that men and women are different and personally I wouldn't have it any other way. If anyone wants to take offense at my comments please remember that the only gender I insulted is men and I'm a man.

agreed people have seemed a little more touchy lately. oh well.

i also agree that it wasnt done hatefully he obviously doesnt think women really shouldnt drive..

i got repremanded for saying something was gay the other day. but i can see why that would seem offensive to some. especially people living in San fran :) :-P

maybe we just need to reel it in a little :)

anywho.

sometimes life observations draw conclusions that people dont like. deal with it.

The thing that makes me angry, is that guys are always pinned as being terrible drivers. Girls get into accidents too. Not more, not less. I hate insurance.

"I guess I don't share your mentality. This is the first car I have bought and still paying for. This is also the nicest car I have owned. I take lots of pride in my car for reasons that you couldn't begin to understand."

We share the same mentality...I'm sure many of us do here...

Lol. You guys and girls all crack me up. People in general are way too worried about being PC these days. Stereotypes are funny. Laugh a little.

As for my situation, still have to take the moron to small claims for the bike. My insurance is covering my car and all my aftermarket parts fortunately. I'll be rollin in a brand new 2010 Black 3dr in a week! : ) And I'll be able to buy all my mods right away! Things are looking up...

+1 - a lot of us are in the same age range and are just getting started, so this car is a big deal to us lol I love my Yaris and don't think I'd get over it anytime soon if something was to happen to her. This is the first car I spent over $5k on, had less than 100k miles on when purchased, had to take a loan out for, and owned for more than 6 months

So disposable, she is not!

Girls are worse drivers, and any girl who says otherwise needs to take their rose colored glasses off. I can't tell you how many teenage girls/grown adult women I pass in the morning, during lunch, and on the way home who are talking on their cells, smoking a cigarette, waving their hands around, looking in the back seat, eating, drinking, putting on makeup, fixing their hair, steering with their knee while they talk on the phone/smoke/drinking/fixing their hair/changing the CD all at the same time.

I know there are some of us out there who can drive (I would like to nominate myself into that category - I have never caused an accident -have been rearended by FEMALES multiple times though - and I am extremely aware of my surroundings at all time.... I just drive like a f'n racer everywhere I go) but we are few and far between sadly enough.

Oh ... and, because of my numerous speeding tickets (14 since I was 16, but none in the last 4 years) my husband has a WHOLE lot cheaper insurance than I do haha so sometimes we get hit with more expensive rates :)
