So far it looks like things are okay (knock on wood). Still about an hour or so before they consider cancelling the alert.

I'm still pondering how Japan got hit by Chile's earthquake tsunami...very few minor waves.

Tsunami's can keep traveling til they hit land, irregardless of where in the ocean the quake is. Much like a nagging wife, it nevers gives up until you finally mow the lawn lol.

I think the reason there weren't any real tsunami's is because the focus of the quake (exact spot underneath the epicenter) was too deep to upset the ocean enough. That might explain why some Pac-rim coasts only got the tide surge, which can still cause damage to boats and piers.

My house is right across the street from the ocean so it had me pretty nervous for a while; thanfully it turned out to be minor. Thanks for the support, though.
