Micro Image Fogs

I just put in a set of foglights that I purchased from Micro Image online and installed them myself. The install was pretty straightforward but the only thing I have a small problem with is that the switch stays lit even with the key out of ignition. It is really not annoying but I am concerned about the battery draining. I also want to know if there is a way to run the wires so when the key is out of ignition you cannot mistakenly leave the fogs on and drain the battery. I will show so pics of install as I tinted the foglights yellow and they came out official.

I think yellow looks great.
New wiring instructions are provided in the "PDF Zone" on our forums.
Thanks to CTScott for the nice instructions!

Check out my "Headlights off with the ignition switch" DIY for a method of having the headlights and/or fog lights automatically turn off with the key.

To be clear, the button on the dash stays illuminated even in the off position with the key out of the ignition or the lights stay on if the switch is in the on position regardless of the car being on or even keys being in the ignition? I have some of these on the way from MI and am very curious about this. Thanks,

- Jason

Correct. The problem is that the MI kit was really not designed to be used with the OEM wiring, but rather with its own harness. Using it with the OEM wiring is much simpler/cleaner, but to do it correctly, you need to have the illumination and switching separate (which they are not as the switch is built). So, my updated DIY for the MI fog kit requires you to pop open the switch and remove a resistor to isolate lighting from switching. This gets rid of the always on (even with the car off) light.

I think I missed it somehow, but where is this updated DIY for the MI fogs?
I had mounted the fogs, but haven't had time to actually do the wiring as
yet. I would probably want to do this light switch mod as well.

First category on our forums is "PDF Zone" -- it's there as a PDF download.

Good to know... I will make sure to set aside some extra time to do the fogs when they come in. Thanks so much!

Ah...funny thing is I looked at your forums, but in the DIY area.
Thanks Garm!

Now I just have to find the time to get this done before winter.
