K&N cold air intake
I called K&N, and they have do not have a cold air intake for the 2012, but they directed me toward AEM's products.
I would prefer to stick with K&N products due to my good luck with them. Any thoughts if the cai for the 2011 would work? The k&n part number is 69-8612TFK. |

We had one on our 2012. I can't say if the metal wall they include will clear the hood, we never used the heat shield because we relocated the battery, but the rest of the kit works fine.

Thanks for the feedback!
If the heat shield doesn't fit, a few minutes with the tin snips or cutoff wheel will fix it. |

The K&N came in today. Everything but the heat shield fit. No surprises there.
The heat shield needs trimmed down an inch or so on the front. Due to time limitations, the heat shield is going to have to wait a day or two. IMO, the heat shield also works as a splash guard, so it is needed for long term use. But for now, no heat shield will do. Will post pics when everything is done. |

What is the advantage of the CAI? Do you get better mileage or performance?

I am seeking better mileage. The ultimate goal is to average at least 45 mpg with various mods. Right now I am averaging 41. The intake is the first mod. The exhaust might be the next target.
I thought about modding the stock airbox. IE rewoking the inlet trumpet somehow and removing the charcoal filter. I have had good luck with K&N in the past, so decided to go that route again. |
