There should be a small plastic cover on the inside that you can remove and then flip the lever with your hand.

Lower center of the hatch. Directly in line with the latch. The MK2 Yaris have a cover about 10 cm x 5 cm that can be removed from the inside to release the latch. The MK3 should as well.

Interesting. I see that now, looking at the service manual.
Unless you can yank the hatch trim off from inside, you may be stuck having to add and access hole on the inside.

The hatch release on my '07 was manual, and there was a small removable door on the inside trim in case you ran into any trouble. The hatch on my '14 is electric I believe, and there is no such removable door. Could it be a fuse in this case?

I doubt it's a fuse. Alot of systems share a fuse, so if it was, you would see something else that isn't functioning properly. Maybe the rear door relay, but, it's (rear latch) controlled by the main body ecu.
The unlatch signal is sent to the Main Body ECU. The MB ECU then outputs a signal to the rear door motor allowing it to unlatch. Depending on your Yaris' first date of use, and current mileage, the 36 month 36,000 mile warranty would cover it. If not, a MB ECU is going to cost alot, but that's worst case. It could be a broken wire somewhere. So unless you buy the electrical wiring diagram from Toyota, this might have to be a dealer visit. It's not that simple to fix a stuck door lock nowadays. :P |
