Throttle Body Gasket Screen?

For those in the know, is there expected to be any adverse effects if I am to remove the little 1/2 screen that is moulded into the throttle body o-ring? I am solely interested in doing this to improve my atomized water/methanol delivery into the throttle body. Any obstruction whatsoever starts to bring the water methanol mixture out of suspension.

I am also toying with 2 ideas: 1) install a throttle body spacer and spray directly into the manifold or 2) direct port injection - one 30cc/min nozzle in each runner, close to the head.

I thought it's only there so that the throttle flap don't go over past parallel? Not sure, I'm probably wrong. Maybe you can remove the first layer with the screen? Actually I might do that, since I'm gonna go with the 1ZZ TB for now since I don't have the $$$ for the engine swap yet.

I believe those honeycombs are there to straighten out the air or something like that so that the MAF sensor has an accurate reading. Not 100% sure on that tho. But I think that's also the same reason why K&N had some kind of flap in their intake pipe.

Thanks! Yeah, I'd like to remove it. I was thinking I might use something like my Dremel tool to carefully cut it away. Maybe I should have a replacement on hand. Lol.

I believe you are correct. Hopefully removing it won't cause erroneous readings.

Seems like there's a lot of confusion on the web about it:

https://www.spyderchat.com/threads/s...purpose.71002/

It's there for a reason, even if it's not publicly visible. =)

Interesting reading. I wonder about the spark arrestor function as it only covers about 1/3 of the opening. But, for sure, Toyota put it there for a reason. I think I'll leave it in place.
