Muay Thai & MMA Anyone?
Any of you guys follow it? Fans? Fighters?
I have a few friends that fight in Amateur bouts in CT and MA. I was going to start a training routine to transform my interests from follower to a fighter. But sadly I moved and lost that great opportunity. I'm currently thinking about joining a team based here in OK. So we'll see how that plays out. What do you guys think about it? Which leagues do you follow? To dig a little deeper, I'd plan on training in Muay Thai and JuJitsu heavily with some extensive crash courses in Jeet Kune Do. I formally did western style boxing and was pretty good, but I was careless and didn't put any real effort into learning techniques. I was a brawler I guess. So what's your cup of tea? |

Rofl. I enjoyed that movie greatly. One of my favorite low budget comedies.
Cage fighting is probably a favorite of mine. Octagon FTW! You a UFC fan or what? |

A close friend of mine is currently training to fight in MMA. He wants to fight in UFC at 155 I believe. Anyone that does that shit and does it well is fucking crazy, make no mistake about it. What a profession... yeah, I beat dudes with my bare hands all day.
And yes, I think it is the NFL of the future. MMA is amazing. |

Yeah, I started boxing as a way to get back into shape and it progressed into a means to let out pent up agression and frustration. I was once a very angry kid. It's enjoyable as all hell to get into a ring and just duke it out.
The 155 weight class is scary as hell. Those guys are so small but they pack a punch. I've never seen guys so damn fierce. |

Lol, As a correction... They aren't exactly small, but I'm 6'1" and weight 200 even. I'm not exactly big though.

I train Kickboxing as a way of getting in shape.
My trainer (a good friend of mine) is a Muay Thai's FL Amateur champion (2005 I believe). His brother is US and Canada's Amateur champion (again, 2005 I believe) and is going to Holand shortly for (his first?) professional fight. I cannot recall all the details right now, sorry! |
