Seriously.. they should have their top mechanic doing all the routine services for free..

Have you called toyota and asked about sponsorships? I'm sure they'd love for more than just people who already have a yaris to hear about this.

+1

trini - you really need to contact someone at Toyota about this. There's gonna be a lot of import bashing by the big three in the near furture as they try to improve their image and sell more cars and now is a prime time to let Toyota know about your amazing Yaris.

this is the first part that i've ever changed on the engine, apart from regular maintenance parts.
My old Honda CRX went through FOUR Nippon Denso Alternators in 200,000 miles. First step to remove the Alternator on a CRX - remove the driver's side wheel, followed by the CV joint.

Honda - Who says that you don't need a strong back to fix a car?

I bet that my Yaris will need one sooner than your car. Too much road salt around here.

Thanks for keeping us up to date with your Yaris Trini!

Please let us know whenever something goes on your Yaris. At this point, there's no shame in anything that might happen. We'd just love to see how everything holds up since many of us plan on driving ours into the ground as well.

Thanks man!!

I have logged 13k since Dec 15th, and I love the Y still. I plan on 300 to 400 k (or more).

Basically I will drive it until it disintegrates or a semi flattens me.

no need to lighten up on yours. mine has 325,000 miles on it and i still down shift to 3rd at 70mph and run the tac out to the limiter and take it all the way to 119mph, when the governor kicks in. check my youtube video out of my topend run.

I'll say it again, your 300k mile car is the sole reason I bought my first new car in 20 years of buying cars, nothing convinced me more to buy a new Yaris like your real world data-point. Toyota should make you a star of their ad campaigns.
thanx for the kind words Regal. but toyota is giving me the run around as far as doing anything for me right now. they're blaming it on this "economic crisis". but i still keep in touch with them ever so often. i'm hoping to get something out of them for doing all this real world testing on the yaris.

does your speed governor kick in at 110mph? your car runs nice. i wish there was someone in south florida with a modded yaris that i could meet on the highway, to give them a run for their money.

the belt was in very good condition and could have gone at least another 25,000 miles.

That's great reliability. Too bad I can't say the same for resale though....

Alternator on my FURD Taurus bit the dust at 188kms or roughly 117,000 miles. It's also ten years old. First alternator I've had to replace in any vehicle. I drove my old Dodge Spirit (92 2.5L) 420,000kms (260,000 miles) still on the original alternator. Average engine speed at 62mph was approx. 2800rpm...a bit high by today's standards but fine for back in the day.
