when I started to do this I bought a pull switch so I can enable and disable the seatbelt sensor. Once i get it all figured out I will DIY for you all.

First of all, I haven't looked at my Yaris yet ... but for what
I've seen ... most seatbelt sign could easily turn off by unplugged
the wire under the seat. Have u guys try this?

Most cars in Thailand have one for driver seat .. I am not sure if
your cars do the same

Angry the service mgr on duty gave me a bunch of bullsh*t......

but when I threatened to get the owner of the dealership involved, he called Toyota HQ in CA and verified that the chime could be eliminated (and how to do it). It took the tech about 5 minutes with the a normal scroll type scan tool to turn it off. I'll give you a hint......have your owner's manual handy when you ask. It states very clearly if you don't want the chime......

i was talking with my roomate about this today, my last vehicle she would never wear her seat belt and eachtime i noticed i would get made and make her put it on. we were wondering how much weight is needed to trigger the chime? i always put my bag on the passenger seat and thats never set it off, even when its been packed.

If you dont want the seatbelt latched all the time (cosmetic reasons or whatever) Maybe you could get the seatbelt extender from your dealer, plug that in. Might look a little neater. Havent tried it. Worth a shot possibly. Seat belt chime isn't a problem for me.

it varies but usually around 60lbs. hondas systems set at 65lbs. but it also depends where the sensors are located in the cushion. some have multi sensors on each spring coil, others only have a few (front/rear), so you can have a heavy bag on the seat but if its not in the sensors range it wont sense it. oh and if there is a way to turn off the chime with the toyota scan tool, there is almost always a manual may to do it using an SCS connector to short the SRS system. maybe a willing toyota tech here can give us some info or a sequence to follow

mine isnt as sensitive. i think it depends if there are side airbags in the car. there is a second ecu that determins whether there is a child in the seat (79lbs or less its shown in the SRS section of the factory repair manual in the DIY section).which turns the curtian air bags off. if there arent any side airbags then it may just be a more sensitive, simple on/off sensor. id search more but im tired. theres also some specs on what resistance the ecu expects from certain components for anyone looking to jump the belt switch

"Anyone find out how to turn off the seatbelt chime?"

Uh, just a wild guess here, fasten your seatbelt maybe?

there has to be a manual sequence to disable it, there must be someone here who works at toyota that can find out.
btw i like your DIY vodkalush, id only be worried about any unwanted resistance in the srs system. the srs ecu sometimes measures resistance outputs in megohms, which doesnt leave much room for error when splicing and such. not for beginers i think, but an awesome setup nonetheless.
