A throwback to the past. Really makes you take a second look, but would only work with a black car.

BTW, I would like to see flatter baby moons. What do you think?

Now, all you need is a chrome grill and a rear chrome garnish around the Toyota emblem. (I think someone on this forum has a rear garnish on a blue car).

I have the flatter moons (8" diameter golf cart) and have mounted one, just want to work on the mounting a little more, before completeing and pictures. The ones in the picture do tend to make it a little more like a 'clown' car than anything serious....but I've lived with stranger looking things

...not much of a chrome fan other than on wheels, prefer the 40's/50's shaved look.....maybe some body colored 'pucks'to replace the front and rear emblems, to flow with the body lines---not ready for a full repaint that would be required to do it right!

All in the definition of "ricer"....if you consider street rodders, rat rodders, muscle car owners, customizers in the 'ricer category if they work on asian cars...guess I'd have to agree. My definitions a little different...but we're having fun, all that matters right!!

Sort of like Billy Clinton trying to explain the definition of "is"!!!!!

either way I say lets focus all that hate+love into one thread so that we can keep the others "clean." I'll post pics of my ride (below) and you can judge for yourself if I am Rice or Not Rice. And if you have the balls (or vag) then post yours up as well.

Let the insanity insue!!!

I've been with VW world for the last 16 years and member of VW Vortex forum since 1999.

as far as i remember, the word Rice (ricey to some) first born from the guys who drive VW and Audi couple of years back.
don't remember who started it but i remember this word suddenly pops up in every thread..and it became very popular in Vortex forum.
then in other forum such Audi and Bimmerworld, they start using it too.

this word should've been just for fun..but some people use it for other reason.
I remember once the dudes who manage VWVortex, they had to shut down some threads due to improper writing and some nasty talks related to this word.
but that's how it is, when it's fun...people take advantage and some lost control.

btw,
i remember that this word originally intended to be use for Hondas only.
but now i guess other forum use it for other brand name too..
that's not good!!

my point is, i don't care with this whole rice thing.
as long as my car can still do 30-40mpg..., then i'm happy...

Saying rice i think is all good but when its used in a racist derrogatory sense thats the only time it pisses me the fuck off.

Seriously, i got called a ricer and was told to "go home and eat some rice" cause my stock yaris rolls around on steelies w/out the hubcaps. i'm not even full asian, i'm half hispanic. We need better terms to describe the shit we do too our cars. I'm pretty sure some of you would take offense if i said "your car looks like a burrito you beaner" or something along the lines of "your car looks cracker'd out, honkey"

To each his own, everyone is entitled to their opinions, so criticizm is a definite must. You do what you do to your car to induvidualize it to your standards. Not anybody elses.

Just leave the racism outta it.

Any reference to Asian cars has nothing to do with racism to me.....hopefully no one thinks bad of me as a US (honkey) because of the crap that is produced in the US! I'd list some of the best things I can think of the Asian race.....but that would be racist, because categorizing any race for it's bad or good is no longer politically correct, and bad and good is in every race. My statement was only to comment on rat/street/muscle/hot rodders tend to shy away from any Asian vehicles or parts, and I don't know why, other than they may realize in some/many ways they (asian cars) are better.

Sorry if the use of "Asian" offends....but stating country/continent of origin shouldn't!

I have never thought of ricer, ricing or rice a racial or derogatory term for people and living in Texas I have heard them all. The term stemmed from rice rocket which simply refers to a motorcycle or car from Japan. Anyway, now it is used by everyone who has any interest in cars to rag on someone elses car that they think is "overdone"

That is my understanding of the term but people are so sensitive now that you can't say anything without it being misconstrued.

well i just shrugged it off, theres alotta ignorance in the world.

i actually never really even linked the word rice or the term ricer to anything derogatory till that one comment. It was really quite eye opening, i was never sensitive to the statement till that moment.

"Go home and eat some rice you ricer."
