Since I told her that I base my beliefs on Christianity, but don't necessarily think I am a Christian (since I have my own ways and beliefs about Heaven and hell), and she says I have no bases of being a good person, she should look at that, and the fact that I follow (or at least try to) the 10 Commandments.

Now, it's not my fault that she believes that the Scapular around my neck is an idol. And like I said, believing in Jesus does not necessarily mean I have to believe in the Bible, at least to me. Those are HER beliefs, not MINE. She needs to realize that.

Yeah, if she doesn't change in that she just learns to respect my beliefs, this outcome will be enforced.

Good song on how I'm feeling right now (Numb by LP)

I'm tired of being what you want me to be
Feeling so faithless, lost under the surface
I don't know what you're expecting of me
Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes

(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)

I've become so numb I can't feel you there
Become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

Can't you see that you're smothering me?
Holding too tightly, afraid to lose control
Cause everything that you thought I would be
Has fallen apart right in front of you

(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
And every second I waste is more than I can take

I've become so numb I can't feel you there
Become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

And I know I may end up failing too
But I know you were just like me
With someone disappointed in you

I've become so numb I can't feel you there
Become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I'm tired of being what you want me to be
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I'm tired of being what you want me to be

Kaotic

have you done any google searching on the SDA?

its a toughy that your in.. i feel for ya..

remember that they base their faith on works.. so if you arent following thier religious model for a good adventist.. then they will consider you bad.

its like the JW they consider me an apostate (anti-christian) because i pray to Jesus. basically anything that i do for God is completely nullified by the fact that i pray to Jesus instead of God. and if i pray to God and call him anything but Jehovah ..then God will not hear me.. which would make me an apostate agian.. It amazes me that they claim to read the bible and can still think that this line of thinking is legit.. lol God is called many names in the bible.. and Jesus even says that he and the father are one.

Hmm..... you're anti-Christian becasue you pray to Christ. That sounds logical.

The only thing more dangerous than getting involved in a land war in Asia is getting into religious arguments. Even as an ordained minister, I stay way from them.
Over and out!

If you want to speed things up, start leaving some pentagrams and other satanic symbols around...

Ordained minister? Interesting...

My grandfather was a Presbyterian minister, my father an atheist. Growing up, I heard the two of them go at it every Sunday in granddad's den. Through osmosis rather than actually paying attention, I learned a LOT about religion; once out on my own, I went to churches, synagogues, temples etc, listening some more.

It took awhile, but I eventually came to my own conclusions, and have tried to stay within my own boundaries as far as behaviour is concerned. The fights between Christians and Moslems, pro-life and pro-choice, hawks and doves, and all the other fights based on religion, I just stay out of them because I (by birth) am a bastard and welcome in few churches or temples, I will never be pregnant, have never faced war, and live my life with a social conscience rather than financial priorities.

With all this background, I always look forward to the JWs and SDAs, and I never send them away; I always make sure that they go back to their leader with more questions than answers!

breakdown? No, no... Not worth it. Hmmm..a few ideas for you:
Either
1) The 2 of you have to agree to disagree, or
2) One of you has to agree to shut up and pretend to agree with the other
3) Be honest and tell her that this could be a deal breaker, or
4) ... you know what to do .... sigh... I'm running out of ideas

You should probably cool off a bit before doing anything rash, though, which is easier said than done, i know. Religion and politics, you know... like I was telling you, we have different religions in the family and also different political beliefs, but when we all go to my father's house, we all pretend and follow his. He's not an idiot, he's figured it out, but if, for example,we all together at the table, we just follow the leader. Makes life easier. I follow that principle pretty much everywhere I go. If people say Grace before dinner, then I'll bend my head too. If they don't, then I don't. At home by myself, I don't.

You know, maybe it's just a phase. I remember once, I was very much into exercising and stuff and I couldn't shut up about it and tried to get everybody else to join a gym. Then it passed.

???

Hope that helps.

Must be pretty hot in Sacramento today, uh? It was 92 in San Francisco yesterday, which is record high for fog city.

Edit:

HOLLY COW, in the time it took me to respond to your post, 15 more posts appeared!!! OK, I was responding to Kaotic's and his nervous breakdown.

Lemme explain.....

My cousin Herb was a great guy who disliked orgqanised religion. He had a place in the woods, and reckoned that anyone who needed more than God's creation (the woods) to worship in was nuts. So he becasme a mail-order priest in the Universal Life Church so he could perform marriages and christenings for his friends who didn't want to have to follow any particular set of rules. When he died, no-one else in the family picked up the baton, so I applied online to the Universal Life Church and voila! Ordained minister.
I've never used it, but am a legally ordained minister.

Religion, it's one hell of a drug

She probably thinks your're the devil by now, out to test her faith. Arguing with her will just lead to more arguing and talking with her will get you guys arguing again. Religious wars are never won, fighting with weapons that don't physically exist.

She's following one dark and narrow path to......insanity.......

How is this relevant, and what 10 threads are you talking about?

I haven't really done a thorough search on SDA, but from what my gf and them tell me, I know more than I want to.

That's what I've been telling her, in a way, all of use are considered bad by other people. Muslims, Buddhist, etc would consider them bad because they do not follow their beliefs, but imo, that shouldn't apply. Your beliefs is your beliefs, right?
