The one in the auto gear shift is a little wedge type bulb - #74.

The ones in the knobs are different - they don't come out of the base. I think paul is probably right about the neo-wedge designation.

These folks sell LEDs in many colors for both: http://autolumination.com/74.htm


I gave up on the turn signals. I think those may be soldered in LEDs but you have to take the cluster apart to get at them.

They appear to me to just be standard 194s, but they're sealed in the signal unit itself... very lame.

How do you gain access to the map light bulbs?

I figured out the dome light.

an LED has around a 2000hr life (and thats being const. on)... so I wouldnt worry to much about it; ex) if you buy a light for your house with a 2000hr life its an estimated 9yr life time (and thats in a house, being used for an hr or more at a time...)

paul said he thinks its a 194 bulb - not LED. They burned out in the dash of my old Camry.

Were you able to get at the bulbs for the turn signal paul? I took the instrument cluster pretty far apart and couldn't see the bulbs.

I got my knob lights colored... I gotta do a lil touch up to them then I'll take some pics and maybe even a lil DIY

Here is what it looks like with clear bulbs in the control knobs and gear shift. My blue condoms are due Wednesday. For some reason the NJ company is shipping them from Kansas. Go figure.

You really need those condoms, i just spent 70AUD on getting another knob since i fucked up the top one.

Mine is red, a little darker than i expected.

And the cold/blue area of the AC didnt light up that good....

Oh... I'm an idiot, I thought you meant the external turn signals... the cluster ones are LEDs built into the gauge, the whole gauge is Optitron type which is basically a shallow depth, LED illuminated cluster.

What did you use to color the bulbs?

When I re0do Mine I'm leaving the Heating Control Knob clear...

I went to my local major car parts store and asked them for 5mm colour condoms. I was surprised australia had some. So i guess you should try ur local car store.
