What kind of smart phone do you have?
OK, I'm in the market for a new phone so I thought I'd conduct my own little survey
Post here the kind of phone you have (iPhone, Droid, Razr, BlackBerry, etc.) and how you like it. (I know I did an iPhone v. Blackberry thread a long time ago, and there are similar threads specific to one device only, but there is so much more choice out there, it's time for an update ). Thanks |

I have a HTC Hero (Sprint edition), which is a 'Droid, that was a Christmas present. It took some getting used to considering my old cell phone was pretty basic; but now I love it! I have converted several songs to ringtones (easy through a 'Droid app) and now when my son calls it is Alice in Chains Check my Brain, my wife it's Dean Martin's Ain't That a Kick in the Head? and most everyone else it's Dick Dales Misirlou (a few get Kool and the Gang's Jungle Boogie). Plus I can read email, surf the 'Net, play music or watch videos.
Cheers! M2 |

I almost got the G1 last year but people warned me the battery sucks.
Same thing with the iPhone, apparently, when you're out and about all day, the battery runs out if you use the Internet too much? |

i own a 3gs, i love it. Battery lasts all day for me. heck, im on my 4th day without charge (21% left). I surf the web when i need to (avg 30 min/day) and text a good amount. The sites i visit have iphone formatted pages, so i can just turn off the 3g and stay on edge all day.
I like the droids, alot....but not enough to buy one...i work with droids everyday at work and i still just cant find a reason to get one. |

I have the Samsung Rogue (Verizon) which is really not a smart phone, but it does a lot for a cell phone. I like that it has a touch screen and you can go online and it's pretty fast along with a qwerty keyboard. And it was free ( every 2 year free phone contract) now I have unlimited minutes with the plan which is only $69.99 a month. Phone doesn't require the extra money per month for smart phone but I do have to pay an extra $9.99per month for memory.
It does what I need to do.

I have the iPhone 3G and while it works for many things it can be quite annoying, The inability to multitask is something that irritates me at least once per day, it checks email at random times despite me having it configured to never do so, its call quality is horrible (I often have to ask people to repeat themselves), and if I leave the 3G antenna on it uses power at more than triple the rate without it.
I also intensely dislike that I have no control over the underlying parts of the phone unless I hack it. The iPhone's application handling and memory management is so jacked up that I much prefer to have the ability to kill processes at will. The artificial limitations on the brightness an application can use cripples "flashlight" utilities, so I go around them. Etc. Still, I don't complain too loudly as neither the phone nor the monthly plan cost me anything. My employer picks up the tab. If I were buying on my own today I would go with the Nokia N900. It is unlocked and quad band capable (meaning you can use it with any network), it runs a fork of Debian Linux called "Maemo" and has no restrictions in place, meaning that you have root access out of the box and can load just about any package from Debian's vast repositories, as well as applications that are specifically designed for it.

Drooooiiid.
I love the Moto Droid. It does everything imaginable plus a few more things. Don't know how I lived without a computer in my pocket before. |

I just upgraded from a LG Voyager to a Blackberry Tour 9630. I got it mostly for two reasons: I needed to be able to get full html email and follow links in them, and for Pandora. The AUX port is the same size as the AUX port in the yaris so it plugs right in and I haven't touched my MP3 player since. It also charges separately from the audio. You get REAL internet on it and so far I've found some great free apps. It can also let me use my phones internet on my laptop. The camera is only a 3.2megapixel but the pix look good. Overall I'm really liking it.
