Goodwood Revival - pretty cool old engines!

I saw this on European TV the other day, thought you guys might get a kick out of this.

"The Goodwood Revival is a three-day festival held each September for the types of cars and motorcycles that would have competed during the circuit's original period—1948-1966. It is one of the world’s most popular motor race meetings and the only UK event which recreates the golden era of motor sport from the 1950s and 1960s. " (check Wikipedia for more info)

here is a link to a video

http://www.goodwood.co.uk/site/conte...l/Default.aspx

(I know, this is way before your time and mine, but it's still pretty cool. Enjoy!)

I thought it was pretty cool I love old cars, but I really love WWII planes... I always think about how future generations might not get to see these wonders if people keep using/racing/flying them...

That's a good point, but OTOH, those things were made to be used/raced/flown, and I count myself privileged to have seen such things being used as they were meant to be, after the time in which they were commonplace. A preserved museum exhibit doesn't have the same impact.

Exactly right. Anyone who has ever built a race car just knows it won't last forever, maybe not even one race. Same with the military aircraft: many didn't even last through their delivery flight.

I'm not sure why I enjoy old stuff more than new; architecture, vehicles, aircraft, boats (ever see or hear a rumrunner from the 20s?), even furniture. Building replicas or facsimiles is a lot of fun; my roadster was a blast, and my avatar shows how one can get (literally) carried away...

It's too bad that the video was done in that MuchMusic, chopped up style, one only gets the briefest of views of anything there...

If you wait a little bit until it's over, you'll be able to see something more realistic on YouTube.

Someone posted Goodwood 2008

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtcZs...eature=related

here you go, Part 1 of several.

Very nice!!! I'm into slot cars and collect primarily pre-1960 grand prix replicas. So between running vintage cars and designing vintage race circuits, it's almost always a revival weekend at my house!!

Thanks, tomato, at one point I expected Monty Python's Battle of Britain to break out with those artists....

I just love the patience of the Brits, they never seem to be in a hurry at an event like that.

gokartride, I have a couple of old slots that may be of interest, email me at kpa@nethop.net for what I have.
