How about for Echo hatch?
Does anybody know if this will work in the Echo Hatch (i.e. the previous generation Yaris)?
Thanks! |

I wonder why Toyota would change something like that mid-cycle?

Ok guys Upon Cali's request Iam posting what i did to make this work...Sorry my camera is screwed so no pics but dont think they are needed..
Basically from stock there is absolutely no way the device will sit far enough down so the cotter pin can slide in...So i put my toyota cap on and thought for about 2mins' (as long as can without getting a headache) I pulled out my dremel and put the following bit on it..(I know but it was the only one i had to work with) http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Attachme...l.aspx?pid=562 I basically cut down the bottom side of the blk until i couldnot see any red left..I also had to cut a little off the edges..So now the blk is completely silver on the bottom...I did have to test fit about 4 times until i got it just right..Once i had enough cut down I had to press down on the blk pretty hard and it slid all the way down for the cotter pin to slide..Tested a short drive everything seems fine..took me about 20mins to do this...Maybe NST can look into this and make a ver.2 for us 08-09 owners... Also 1 thing to point out...I dont think it is the depth of the channel on the blk its the edges that are stopping the thing from resting flat...so someone might try just fileing the edges down instead of the whole bottom side. |

Thanks for the write up -- glad you got it to work.
Maybe a thinner version with and without a washer would fit both versions?

I don't like the idea of spending close to $100 on something thats made for my car and having to shave it down to make it fit. But thats just me. I'll buy one if the fitting problems get fixed.

Where was the install moved to? Looks like I scored one, and will need installation instructions.

After installing and running with it for a while, the gears became a bit stiffer to shit into and out of. Kinda like a "dry hump" to get over/into to get into the gates.
Sprayed down the whole NST and gear linkage and top of gear box with WD-40, and it shifts smooth as baby oil. Are there any ill effects from just whimsically spraying WD-40 around at all places in the car? Avoiding surfaces that get hot, like the exhaust and engine block, can I safely spray WD-40 on everything else without messing up? (nuts and bolts, to keep from rusting) |
