Snowbirds...lol

I say it like Matt...though, when telling people what the car is, I seem to have to repeat it a few times before they understand.

Actually, a CAR DEALER pronounced it Yare-is, so I started to wonder!!! I always called it Yah-ris... Someone asked me what it meant, and I said I thought "bunny" or "rabbit" in some foreign language or other; has anyone heard that one before???

Yaris stems from a goddess in Greek mythology, named Charis, who was a symbol of beauty and elegance. We used the German expression of agreement, “ya”, because we think this new name best symbolizes the car's broad appeal in styling and is representative of Toyota’s next generation of global cars.
So its made up but has an idea behind it

What? YARE and YAH sound the same to me whether it be "is" or "ris" at the end...
Unless one pronounces it like YEAH-ris. Like in "Hell Yeah!-ris"

I think it's the plural form that's confusing. Is it Yarises, Yaris (like plural for fish), or Yarii?
Oooh the English language is so beautiful.

I at this thread, too!

Those are some unusual definitions of "yaris"
I wonder if Toyota has their own meaning for the name?

We say 'yaar...is'
