Welcome!

Other than the elements adding to the spiderweb scratches to the paint and glass, I got a parking lot ding on my passenger door the same week I bought mine.

rollin' and scratchin'..

1.a large gravel from my from tire flew on the driver's door causing a 2cm dent.re-painted on the dealership with a brush and the paint the matches the paint code.then i waxed and that's it.the paint isn't polished or buffed.
2.door of a renault owner who didn't give a #@$ on new car caused the metal near the passenger's left door (near the gas tank) to bend.haven't fixed that-only repainted.
3.a driver's side mirror of a '91 nissan almera "graced" my yaris with a huge strip of white paint all across the left quarter of the car.
only steel sponge (that is used to clean dishes..) and a fair amount of wd40 could remove it.applied wax and only a white little spot remained.

hope that's the end of my list..

Aside from massive amounts of chipping due to interstate rash on the front end of my car... I've only got one real scratch. o.o Battle scar from pushing a Ford Escort out of the ditch when there was no other way ...... And after the person told me my little 'toy car' couldn't get them out of the ditch.

I got my car used and I got a great deal on it, BUT the main flaw it had was paint related.

The top edge of the back bumper is really scratched up.

Passenger door has a roughly dime size chip and a small ding.

Since I've owned it, it's gotten a very odd set of small scratches in a pattern on the driver's door.

Plus of course it has a lot of tiny chips all over the front edge.

All this and it has < 34k miles. I didn't know before hand that these cars had such weak paint. Oh well, it still looks good from a distance.

Yea...welcome to the club. I do tons of traveling from New Orleans to Miami...and have 10 paint chips around the car. And then 1 night on the FL Turnpike, there was road debris...looked like a fender and some other car parts on the road...and hit it straight on and going at 80 mph...didn't do a front end damage, but the fender clipped the bottom side of the driver's side door...have 6 inch scratch.

Oh yea and my car is BLACK...soooo all of the damages shows easily.

Got my car second hand sight-unseen in 2007 and the previous owner must not have cared for the car whatsoever. Paint scratches on the mirrors, hood, deep dings on hatch, both doors... After I got her repainted after an accident, I've been treating her nice, and she's only had a few minor dings on the front. I've been hit by plenty of rocks and large chunks of rubber from semi trucks at freeway speeds and most of the hits caused no damage.

I just found a parking lot door-ding on my rear, right-side passenger door.

SO pissed off. I bought the car new exactly three months ago.

THe jerk chipped my paint- metal is visible.

DOes anyone know what to put on the scratch as a preventative measure against rust?

I usually use clear nail polish on my bicycles (so if it starts rusting I can see it), but it doesn't seems an especiall good idea for a car...

I just recently got mine repaired... while driving it from Indiana to California when I moved to CA last summer... anyhoo so we were in Nebraska and I went to open the passenger side door (my boyfriend had been driving) and the wind ripped the door out of my hands and smack into a light pole in the parking lot...

So finally made a claim with my insurance and took it to the auto body shop out here and got it repaired / repainted. It looks like new again! Plus they polished my paint and I had them repaint the front and rear bumpers where paint was missing from rock chips in the front and from luggage hitting it in the back... so yeah, my car is thankfully all shiny and proper again, phew...

But I remember being mortified when that door damage happened to my poor baby...
