New Yaris Owner With a Question

Hello! I'm new here and I've been enjoying browsing the forum. I just purchased a 2007 Yaris 4DR Sedan with 42,000 miles on it (it's a Toyota pre-owned certified). Tonight was the first time I've driven it at night (just got it on Monday) and I noticed that the speedometer doesn't light up. Now, I'm assuming this is a wiring issue since it becomes impossible to see the speedometer when driving in areas without street lights. However, I just wanted to make sure before I took it back to the dealer to have it fixed. So, should the speedometer light up?

Thanks ahead of time!

To the left side of the steering wheel is a little knob that rotates up and down.

It adjusts the interior panel/dashboard light levels and I'm guessing yours is turned all the way down.

Wow... I can't believe I missed that. Thanks for the help. I would have felt pretty silly going into the dealer for that.

They'd have charged $200 in labor, and billed it as "Customer Dim".

There are 2 settings on the dimmer...one that allows the actual dimming and brightening. For the other, rotate the wheel all the way up until it "locks" and it brightens the gauges to 100% all the time...whether your lights are on or not. Good for those times you want your lights on in the daytime, allowing you to easily see the gauges.

If u get stuck - try searching for instructional videos for the Yaris on YouTube - a LOT of US dealerships have placed their sales walkthroughs there - and of course try searching for an online owners manual

sounds silly - but I remember when I pumped my first tank of gas - I thought my Yaris 2010 was missing a second fuel cap clip (My Rav4 09 has 2 clips where you rest the fuel cap on) - then I saw a diagram showing how you had to hang the cap over the 1 clip provided.
