My Story of how I ended up with a Yaris. READ.

I had before the Yaris a Third Generation Mitsubishi Eclipse.

In 2006 I got sick and crashed my car.

I did not have any car because of my disability. So I was most of the time walking to place and waiting for long hours on bus stops.

Finally thanks to God, I got a Yaris 2007, which is the best car. Fuel efficient, nice looking, planet saver.

So here is the story and pics:

Welcome to the forums, Robert!
Much respect for overcoming so many adversities and resuming your career as a doctor, no less...
P.S. Good looking car! You may want to lower it a bit, but that's up to you.

I always had this question.

If a car has the airbags deployed in an accident. Is it consider a total loss?

I heard that airbags costs over $1k.

So I assume the Eclipse was non fixable.

The Eclipse had a lot of mods. And my mother ended-up selling the whole car for $1000. Apparently the other guy who bought it, fixed it.

Not sure about that. I have to see it to believe it.

Can the car be driven without airbags?

I had a lot of doubts after crashing the Eclipse.

But I am pretty happy with the Yaris. It's very efficient and It can be parked in any spot.

Yes airbags are $$$$ and no you cannot legally drive it without them. Note I said legally.

Im thinking it would have been cheaper to fix it than buy a Yaris but only if you could do it yourself.

Dear Doctor,

Thank you for sharing your story. I am so happy you are now living a good, productive life.

Your Yaris looks very nice. Black wheels always seem to dress up.

Can you share a bit, in layman's terms, what was the treatment that pulled you out after the first attempts failed?

There was no evident etiology or an explanation of what caused the initial seizures. I am suspicious about my ex-girfriend, who apparently as I am being told by other people, that on Christmas Eve, she might have pour some kind of drug into Christmas Eve's Dinner. I left her place at 10:00 pm on Dec. 24, 2006 and went to the hospital. About 2 or 3 am, I just dropped to the floor while I was in a chair. I do not recall any of the events. I was taken to the Cardio Area, and almost intubated.

I had what is called "status epilepticus" which means a seizure won't stop in 10-15 min.

At the same time I was working as a waiter in a local restaurant. I tried to keep both jobs. But I had seizures there as well on the next days after being discharged the first time. I remember having a tray full of glasses, and I just dropped to the floor. When I was taken to a local community hospital, I remember to being given a Phenytoin (Dilantin) overdose. I remember feeling very very bad, seeing a extremely white light and flashes with severe headache.

On Three Kings Day, I was in the bathroom at home and fell to the floor. I do not remember until I woke up in another hospital, and after waking up I fell from the stretcher to the floor and hit my face.

Then I wasnt' allowed to work anymore. I moved to gf parent's house at that time. And continued with seizures.

After that second admission to the hospital, I was given like a bunch of drugs. Now that I see a copy that I have of the prescription, it was literally a bomb of antiepileptic medications at the same time. It made me feel horrible.

My gf at that moment was in charge of scheduling all the meds, which were in total about 7 pills at different times. I tried not to take them, because instead of helping me feeling better, I was feeling worse, due to side effects.

So I just pretended that I was just taking them.

The day I crashed my Eclipse, after being taken to the Police Department for alcohol testing, my gf left me and dropped me at my brother's house. Never knew of her after that. Tried to call several times, and she hung up the phone several times.

It is actually a long story.

To answer your question about what pulled me out?
Mainly medications, antipsychotics and antiepileptics, but mostly God.

My destiny at that moment was a total disability. So, I started from zero again. Started to study all the subjects again while at home. And here I am today, proud owner of a Yaris, being enviromental friendly.
