TO Rice or Not To Rice: That is the question

It seems that the last couple of weeks people have been thread "bashing" (i dont really see it as soo but I know some do) and in each time that I've read its been about the "Thats rice" and the "No its not", plus some people taking comments to heart....

either way I say lets focus all that hate+love into one thread so that we can keep the others "clean." I'll post pics of my ride (below) and you can judge for yourself if I am Rice or Not Rice. And if you have the balls (or vag) then post yours up as well.

However be prepared for some nice (if your lucky) and not so nice comments.

Let the insanity insue!!!

(below is an outdated pic, I put the hubcaps back on)

Huge spoiler: negative
VTEC/NISMO stickers: negative
underbody neons: negative
spraypaint paint job: negative
huge chrome rims: negative
4" coffee can exhaust: negative

That's about as un-rice as it gets, a bit on the boring side, even

But what's the verdict on this, the plan for what my car will look like in the end?

I mean... we've got a big "go faster" stripe, big rear spoiler, a wide body kit that makes the car almost wider than it is long, eyebrows for god's sake... Sounds like rice, right?

IMO, to "unrice" that car, you need to ditch the riceboy wing, ditch the stripe, have the wheels either be silver or black, and lose the eyelids. That car stands out like a riceboy's car does, and ultimately, you'd be looked at as a ricer where I live with that car. White wheels and matching white stripe=surefire in cognito ricer.

Nimble,
Why is having white wheels on a red car rice? If that is the case there are many Mini Coopers that are rice when they are still stock. Why is black okay then?

Also, I would think that a nice set of white rims are less rice than the stock hub caps that most of us have. Afterall, isn't rice when you have somthing that pretends it is something that it is not?

here is a little of what is rice, what is not.... but as for the MINI and the white wheels, it is not rice because it is stock, now you throw white aftermarket wheels on a red MINI... that is rice... black wheels are not rice, because they are not flashy, and rolling stock steelies pretending they are black aftermarket wheels IS rice

Well the word rice is gettin on my nerves cuz people have different perspectives on it. Adding a spoiler is rice, people say its not. Changing the body is rice others say its not. Frankly in my mental dictionary says that whatever u do to a car is ricing it.

Anyway my yaris still needs to drop and get rims added to it. Though everyone has their perspective on what they like and dont like. Anyway doesnt bother me with some negative comments, i made the decision to paint or do whatever to my car and it was my choice.

Such as the fake netz rear symbol i aint rollin in a car that has different badges front and back, thats just me. Others will think differently.

Anyway small pic of my car now in my avatar.

it all depends what you're going to do with the car after you add or do anything.

if you are adding functional add-ons and are racing the car on the weekends at an auto-cross or drag then its not rice.

IMHO

if you put a fart-can on an automatic, then thats rice...
if you put a really low hanging body kit on a car and still expect to drive it, then thats rice...
if you installed a tach on a car that you don't compete in, then thats rice...

the list goes on.

eTiMaGo - Rice as hell (but oddly beautiful)

vodkalush - maki rice (clean and simple)
etimago - yeung chou fried rice (looks complicated and busy, but terribly simple when looked at as a whole)
hasher - jasmine rice (clean and simple, classic)
yaris tte jwrc - jasmine rice (clean and simple, classic) .. as for your echo, i am not a fan of it
violin - sushi rice (lots care and handy work to make it look good)

I often look at other cars for inspiration as to what to do with my car, and what not to do with my car.

Go ahead, make my day:

well, IMO at least.. the yaris LB is one of those cars that you can do almost anything to, and it will still look "good"... something like the XB, although the XB you can basically do whatever you want and it doesnt seem out of place.

Which, this car is very "rice" made in japan f0 realz.

im just happy i havent seen any stickers on these cars yet. you know, those magical stickers that add horsepower to your car. at least, thats what all those civic and integra owners will tell you. points for violin's moonroof and leather interior, and points to etimago's aspirations. minus the white racing stripe, that will be the hottest yaris around, flat out...

As a rule of thumb.

4 cylinder cars gain 5-6 whp per sticker, unless over 6" wide, then the windshield banner types gain 9 whp.

4 cylinder TURBO cars gain 12 whp per, and 15 per for banners.

6 cylinder and 8 cylinder cars gain 17 whp per, and 21 per for banners (oddly enough, these cars are least found with stickers on them....the 4 banger crowd usually has to have a lot of stickerzzzz to make up for the lack of displacement).

10 and 12 cylinder cars like the Vipers and Ferraris actually receive another engine's worth of power simply by adding the "dynamic duo," the front/rear banner combo....always a classic.
