Any coin collectors?

Anyone know if this coin is of any value? (other than being a one dollar coin lol) I have never seen this royal-looking lady on any coin before.. Just by looking at the pictures, does anyone know if this is even real? Thanks in advance.

I apologize for my poor attempt of a macro close up.. Just trying to show detail if it helps.

Seems to be a Morgan silver dollar:

... minted in Philadelphia, since there doesn't seem to be a mint mark.

Wikipedia FTW.

Gahhhh..

Thanks for the reading. Apparently, this one seems to be one of the cheaper Morgan dollars... They fall between the $20-$30 price range -_-

I seriously thought I hit the jackpot when I found this coin lol

Well, I think you should get it all shiny and keep it to yourself... Who knows? Maybe it will be worth a lot more in a few years.

Hi... I'm not involved in any numismatic coin collecting, but instead purchase only .9999 silver and .9999 gold bullion as a hedge against inflation. Paper money is fiat... worthless! Ever since the 37th President of the US took the dollar of the gold standard with Bretton Woods II, dollar demise has been occurring. We have been economically suffering against world competing currencies (globilization).

Did you know if you had purchased $25,000 of gold bullion coins in the early 70’s and held on to it during the oil crisis, inflation, devaluation of the U.S. dollar, Savings and Loan scandal, recession, tech and internet bubble, cooked books, 911, and a real estate bubble you could sell that gold today for $524,999.00.

Yes... what you have is a US Morgan Silver Dollar (.90 Silver content-90%). Spot right now for 1 Troy ounce of silver is around $18.50. You can get most Morgans for around $20-$22. Some of the brilliant MS 60's will get you a pretty penny:-)

APMEX has this coin up for a while... no buyers yet! Love the asking because of the die marks under the star!
http://www.apmex.com/Product/58074/1...est_Known.aspx

$8,000 can buy you a shiny new used Yaris

Cheers!

^ LOL... Funny Thanks for changing the quote?

Nope, don't surf conspiracy sites...

Knowledge is the systematic elimination of information, eh?

Sad thing I've been purchasing silver and gold long before the TV and Web advertisements started promoting "Buy Gold"... rich quick schemes... the sky is falling...

Hence, the thought is if those who purchase precious metals... they must be "Conspiracy nuts"! LOL!

I apologize, that was a stretch on my part....[and you nailed my reference too, which is what I had hoped]

you are right. I had a chance to buy gold in some good chunks
when it was 500 bucks an ounce [and I was making a lot more money than today]. I would be sitting pretty now, more than doubling my investment,
almost tripling.

it was Rense site near when it first went up that said BUY GOLD NOW and all that jazz, and I was saying ya right....whatever ain't gonna get sucked into that. well, now look at it. same with google stock or apple stock

No problem!

The first time I bought was in 1985 when the spot price was around $320, the last time in summer 2009 when it was a little over $900. Now it shot up to over $1,200...

I still think it's a bubble we are seeing in the metals market? When the stock market gaines confidence... and the dollar derivative settle... US dollar index increase (steady), and the dollar makes good as the world reserve currency then we will probably see the precious metals market take a dive. It will be a while more as if a zombie economy... like Japan when they fell into their economic woes in the early 90's... IMHO. Meanwhile, you will have all schemes... hurry BUY... BUY GOLD NOW... invest with us! I see through the deception.

I just purchase metals for tangible reasons. No investment...

The stock market is really the place for investment and make your money grow. Unfortunately, we know that it is very dishonest in its ways...

Cheers!

Just found this after a couple of mins. searching:
http://www.coinfacts.com/silver_doll...ver_dollar.htm

Isn't that exactly the coin you have? Seems to sell for quite a bit more than $30...

A lot of a coin's value, like a car's, is determined by condition.

Black Yaris is a super coin collector, he has a lot from various countries and old ones from the U.S.
Ask him for info, I gave my Japanese coins to him since i had no use for them, never did in Japan either :P

DO NOT polish a rare coin, you will ruin its value.
