curious about sedan vs liftback mpg comparison

i've noticed from visiting various site like fuelly, ecomodder, etc... that it seems people with MT and sedan ON AVERAGE seem to get slightly better mileage than the liftback, with 3 door liftbacks in turn slightly beating out the 5 door LBs. (i was only checking manual trans on all of these)

checking the weight, they are all about the same. i think the sedan might be a few pounds less but not a significant amount.

does anyone have any experience driving both types and if so, what was your experience with the mileage (btw, i own the 5dr LB so i'll try to break this stat!)
