Can I get some help with a 2004 Kia Sorento headlight problem?

My boss here at work has a 2004 Kia Sorento.

Her low-beams just stopped working yesterday. Not sure if it was at the same time or whatever, but they don't work. The high-beams and everything else still works.

We checked all the fuses, all seem to be good.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've searched Google up and down and haven't found a thing.

I don't assume she had them replaced yesterday or anything? I've seen the same issue with brake lights, but only after putting in a monofilament bulb when it calls for a dualfilament.

Has she tried replacing the bulbs yet?

Oh yeah, sorry. She replaced the bulbs last night after this happened, to no avail.

Did she use the correct bulb? It may be that the bulb she used only has one filament in it.

Just trying to cross out the simplest solutions first.

Huh.

If the fuses are fine, it may be something with the wire harness, or that switch the activates the low-beams is broke.

If you go to turn the low beams on, do all the side and rear marker lights turn on?

Perhaps her relay is shot, too?

That's what I was thinking is the relay. And due to this whole virus-scare thing today, we're blocked from almost EVERYTHING. So I can't see either of the links.

OT: You design though, you're not on a Mac

The gist of the first one is the relay.

The second is a posting about how Kia released a new wire harness for 2004 - 2006 Sorentos to deal with poor headlight lifespan.

OT: Nope, they prefer PC's here. I've done it on both, but I design on a PC at home as well.

And ah, I know it's not the bulbs. It's gotta be something else.

Locate the headlamp relay. See if there is a relay next to it that is the same and try swapping see what happens. I dont think there will be but id check just incase. Have someone go in the car and turn the headlamp on while you place your finger on the relay. You should hear it click when it activates. Another thing if you know how to use a multi meter you can disonect the relay and connect your meter across the terminals on the relay box and see if there is power with the headlights on. If there is then plug the relay back in and check at the headlamp for voltage. If the relay is cheap i would just swap in a new one and see if it works. That would be the most common cause. Otherwise a easy bandaid fix is cut the wire harness for the high beam and splice it into the low beam. Whala they are working again. But now you wont have high beam anymore lol.
