Intake for the 1ZZ throttle body?

I am very pleased with the butt dyno performance of the 1zz throttle body. When I put on the Bomz intake, I noticed the tubing is slightly smaller than the diameter of the throttle body itself.

Would there be a benefit to have a custom diameter intake? It would probably be easy to make. The other option is to find another vehicle such as the TS or a Matrix/Corolla pick up a short ram intake an use it instead.

Do you think doing this would make anymore power? It could possibly really make a difference with a different intake manifold.

You need to look at the inside diameter. I don't think a slight difference would affect performance. If anything the MAF sticking out in the middle of airflow creates more restriction.

i wouldn't recommend a larger diameter intake tube either. wreaks havoc on the ECU if you don't compensate for it.

Wow, so the consensus is there would be no benefit in increaseing the diameter of an intake piping to match the throttle body?

I think there would be a much higher improvement by port matching the intake mani to the new TB diameter. Even then the change wouldn't be drastic.

I'm building a 1nz-fe Aluminum Intake Manifold with 1zz-fe Throttle Body. The Intake is like this on the 3TC but is littler than this one and has an inclination. I'll take some pics to post step by step the process. Only I need is the 1zz TB to drill the spacer to bolt it and weld, a friend has one but he doesn't bring it to me yet.

Tried a larger diameter tube threw a code right away, the sensor is very touchy.

Yes. Unless you have this:

Then you need to port and polish, and match intake openings.
