The specs are pretty disappointing 122hp, 33MPG???? WTF a hybrid that only gets 33 mpg!!! I was expecting more

I used to have an '89 CRX, and I like the design and naming references to that with this (although the name also sounds like CR-V, which is totally different of course). Anyway, 122hp in a car this size could still make it plenty fun to drive (especially if they gave it decent torque)... but I agree that 33MPG is pretty weak for a hybrid. They should have been able to get that out of a regular car this size.

+1 on the disappointing mileage.
My CRX HF was getting that kind of MPG on the highway.
I keep waiting for Honda to come out with another car like the CRX.

Still, I wouldn't mind taking this one for a spin though

I saw 36 city/38 highway/37 overall for the CVT (which will probably be the more popular tranny option). 37 overall MPG isn't too shabby when you consider that the CR-Z is probably a fun little car to drive.

Honda shouldn't have too much trouble selling these - assuming the price isn't too steep.

I have a strong feeling that the CR-Z will be no more fun than the Yaris that we love and drive. With MacPherson Struts in the front and a Torsion bar in the back, it's nothing like the CRX. The CRX runs on a semi-independent rear an fully independent all the way around. Did you know that CR-Z stands for Car Renaissance-Zero. The importance of this this car is because of it's zero emissions. As a CRX fan I personally think the CR-Z is ugly and a disgrace to be considered the next CRX.

I'm quite perplexed by the combination of weight, MPG, and HP/TQ. It sounds rather mediocre to me. However, as someone said on another site, we know nothing about the performance due to the electric motor. Maybe it's actually really fast because of it? I dunno. I'm not a fan of the looks much. Frankly, I'm not a huge fan of Honda's styling as of late.

Check out the side profile. Looks like an ant eater with that snout.

Honda needs a new crew of designers, like right now.

^ Ha, I guess I haven't seen a side pic of it before... ughh, that does look like an anteater. Having seen that and thinking more about the numbers, maybe I'm not so happy about the CRX comparison/references after all.

yeah, that side-view shot is not flattering at all. looks about a foot or so too long past the front wheels. just put your right hand over the nose section and it looks MUCH better!

I drive over a 4,500 elevation difference every day, usually with carpoolers on board, and I have never used more than 35hp in the Yaris (as read by the SGII).

122hp is complete overkill for a vehicle that size.

So you think that 122hp for a car that weighs 2700 pounds is overkill? I think you are very wrong on that point.
