Thanks for the pics, Yarisight! That's an aggressive look right there...
Sorry about the paint thing... It is really hard to get some colors to match OEM sometimes, especially when I don't have an actual USDM part to compare it to.

not really. But then again, I guess it also depends on what version you have. No one really steals these to begin with and most people who modify our cars are on here. I have v2 which still have a base to them. I believe it's v3 that have that part eliminated.

It is NOT easy to remove the eyelids, as long as you use the 3M tape that I recommend, which is designed to bond with the plastic parts of your car. Then again, if someone tries to pry them off, they may damage the eyelids, which means that at least that idiot won't be able to use them for anything.

The difference between v2 and v3 is essentially just the base, as Treyz correctly mentioned. The base may help a bit on this issue, but not really. The upside of not having the base is that the eyelids are much closer to an OEM look, and there's virtually no rubbing when opening/closing the hood.

So, in essence, the eyelids are as secure as any other "add-on" body part that is attached to your car (be it a spoiler, rocker panels, etc). Obviously those parts will be more secure if they are drilled/bolted in place as well as taped, which is something that cannot be accomplished with the eyelids.

Once I got mine, I test fitted them over and over sanding down what ever was needed. Got the gap even on both sides so that there is no rubbing.

Actually, you don't need to do that. You'll be getting v3's.

So if I get these I'll have to probably paint them. Does anyone by any chance know what the color "Blaze Blue" is known outside of Toyota? I don't want to mess up the color and have to repaint it.

Oh and how much would it cost to have these painted?

Edit: Sorry hadn't noticed someone went over price already. Either way, if anyone actually knows what Blazing Blue is known as to the rest of the world, it'll save me some guess work (and possibly some money). heh

Here are two good links that provide that information:

USDM Blazing Blue Metallic is 8T0. My local auto body shop had no problems matching my lids and hood dead on.

The color code for the paint should be on the door panel.

Only color anyone will have a real problem with is Bayou Blue. It's kind of a PITA to match.

Received my eyelids yesterday, thanks Garm! Just waiting for the paint. Looks like that will arrive sometime next week. I'm not sure how quickly I'll get to paint them. May need to wait for drier weather.

Question, those of you with them painted and installed, did you paint the underside too? Any advantage or disadvantage?

Just follow the instructions on the can. I don;t know exactly where Roseville is in Cali, but if you are in southern Cali, should be no problem as long as the weather is over 50 degrees and there is low humidity. If not, then I would suggest indoors then.

Thanks Treyz. I'm in northern CA, near Sacramento. Did you paint the underside of the eyelids too? It would almost seem that the rough unfinished surface of the eyelid next to the headlight would hold the doublesided sticky tape better then if it were painted.
