Betrayed! Goodbye old-timer. Please post your Fiat. But if it's not an Abarth, just forget about it and head on to the dark side.

Best of luck and keep us posted!

Hope you at least got a turbo...
Otherwise you bought a more expensive, weaker, less fuel-efficient version of your car

@ SailDesign
Having looked at the Fiat 500, along with the Yaris, I was worried about the horror stories of Fiat quality control issues in the past. That perception, along with the perceived higher quality of Toyota (and a less-expensive price) swayed me to the Yaris. I would like to hear about your continuing experiences with the Fiat. If you blog about it or have some kind of website, and would like to share, I would be interested. I hope you enjoy your new car! |

I learned to drive a manual on my friend's old 128 SL that he totaled before he could fix it up. Another friend's mother had one of the later 124 convertibles, and it really was a Fix It Again Tony. Funny acronym, like Found On Road Dead for Ford.

Congrats on the new car !
Make sure you push that sport button every time you start the car :) . Had the 500 sport for a good 3 months, and traded it in with a much bigger car. Fit and finish is better than the Yaris for sure ..... If i bought the abarth in the first place , I would've let the Yaris go too :) |

Everyone chirps and yelps about Fiats, but my buddy rebuilt a 128 to his own specs and drove it for 28 years. Not only was it fast, but it handled well and got great FE. He now has an Echo, which he abuses the same way he did his 128...
However, Fiat of today has virtually no relationship with Fiat of yesterday: new management, new manufacturing facilities, new dealership setup. Better? Jury is still out. My buddy is lusting after an Abarth as we speak, BUT... Ask a Chrysler salesman about a Fiat, and you literally feel the room temperature plunge 15 degrees! I for one hope you keep dropping by, SailDesign, your posts were always enlightening... |

SailDesign, mind posting some pics? The Fiat 500 is one of those cars where when I first saw it, I thought it was hideous, but it has grown on me to the point where I think it looks pretty sweet. I've always been biased towards small cars though, the smaller the better. If I could be driving a BMW Isetta around I would be.
Manual or Automatic? Please say you got a manual.... |
