Vitz RS appeared.......!

Hi Everyone,

First off, apologies if this is in the wrong section, but its the only section i thought would get the most reactions in the short time i have for this....

Basically, I have a 2005 Vitz, JDM Spec with the 8-Airbags, Keyless Go, etc... Best part about it is that its brilliant on gas and an Auto, perfect for traffic these days...

BUT.... The first Vitz RS in Malawi, a 2009 Model, with 8-Airbags, Smoked Headlights, Keyless Go, Black Upholstery and rooflining, etc has just turned up... all it needs is a good set of wheels to complete it, and the shop is willing to let me trade mine in on it, BUT its A stick shift! I would have really wanted an Automatic Vitz RS, soooooo, the question is, if you were in my shoes right now (and i have to make a decision by tomorrow) what would you do?????

LOL I can drive stickshift, in fact all my other cars are stick aswell, but that was the convenience of the Vitz, being Auto, less Clutch-Shift-Clutch-Shift in traffic... hmmmmm!!!

I think a manual RS Yaris has more going for it than the automatics, if only because you can optimize every drivability aspect (i.e. performance, economy, braking, etc) by just timing your shifting properly. I feel automatics take that control away from you (for the most part), and with an engine as small as ours it becomes more noticeable than on other cars.

I'm also 99% sure you will enjoy the RS even more after you get a hang of the Yaris manual tranny which can take a bit practice at first, but it's totally worth the learning curve in the end.

Still, I understand what you mean by the convenience factor, and that is where the auto is king. So I guess it's a matter of personal preference.

Lastly, I personally think the concept of an automatic RS is a bit of a waste. If I were in the market for a 100% convenient car I would probably save some cash by going with a non-RS automatic Yaris instead.

if you just want convenience, not sport, stay with what you have. you mention other cars, if the vitz is just for gas mileage, then no real reason to trade it.
