Question for something I also have in mind....does the stock rear badge have a slight curve in it or is it pretty much flat??? I'm hoping its flat as Calista Flockhart.

what can't keep at least one of the badge threads at the top so people don't come and ask everyday?

Front emblem can be removed from the black housing (go look at yours to see what i mean), by gently heating and "sawing" away from behind with fishing line.

Same exact procedure for the rear, except there is no housing, it is attached directly to the hatch.

You will need to find some 3M body tape to reinstall the emblems. DO NOT use regular double sided tape from the hardware store, its way too thick, wont be as strong, and will look like shit.

Body tape is whats used to install spoilers, body kits etc. Its super thin, and SUPER strong, so be careful when you are placing the emblems.

That should cover it, now go do it.

Thanks Chris... I'm hoping to do the rear emblem this weekend.

As for painting, do you suggest sanding it a bit first to prep, then using a primer, then paint? I'm assuming spray cans for both primer and paint, with paint specially formulated for plastic. Any top coat?

Thanks!
Z

800grit wet sand > plastic adhesion promotor primer > base coat > clear coat.

Let it settle a few days, then compound pase the emblem, buff clean, then wax.

Install.

Remove fine scratches, oxidation, coarse swirl marks and water spots!

Here’s your antidote for the mildly neglected car. 3M’s most versatile rubbing compound is aggressive but safe against fine scratches (grade 1200 or finer), light to medium oxidation, pesky water spots and coarse swirl marks. The super-fine cut abrasive wears down sharp edges and smoothes out the paint’s surface, preparing it for a polish or glaze, followed by a protective wax.

I'm a big fan of Black Emblems on white, but normally shave them altogether - that looks damn nice
