Another Newbie

Hey everyone, figured I'd introduce myself finally.
I've had my Yaris for 2 years now. I bought it 2nd hand with 18000km on it, and it now has 35000 on the odo. It's just a YR hatchback model 2NZ which I've put a K&N panel filter, NST underdrive crank pulley and altezza LED taillights on.

I'd do more mods to it but every spare cent I have goes on my 300ZX

I'm in Sunnybank in Brisbane. I see a black hatch with a bodykit around here every now and then... it looks alright :)

Anyway, Hi !

Cheers,
Kieren.

OH! Pics ;)

I don't have any pics of the Yaris by itself ... so you'll have to look at both my cars.

Here's my photobucket album link if you're seriously bored and want to stare at boring stuff regarding mostly car related stuff: http://s471.photobucket.com/albums/r...kiz/?start=all

Nice. Welcome. Didnt know they had K&N filters for the 2NZ. How good does it go and sound? Personally im not a fan of Z32s, should spend the money on the yaris ;) =)

There was no difference in sound with the filter... I used to take off the pipe that runs from the bottom of the airbox up behind the headlight and it would sound awesome @ WOT but my intake temps increased by around 20 degrees in summer!! I've since removed the bottom outside corner of the box (away from the engine) and drilled holes in the front. It sounds really good from 2500rpm up now Oh and I did have a free-er flowing catback+muffler installed when I got the car too. Nothing outrageously loud and doesn't sound like a wet fart in a tin can!
The K&Nfilter was the same one as the 1NZ, pretty sure the airbox is the same. Mine really needs a clean now though..... oops

Welcome to YW!

I've always had a soft spot for 300ZX's... My uncle has one that is on mint condition and he never lets it off his garage... I've always wanted to take it for a spin.

What kind of mods have you done to it?

Oh, and nice Yaris!

ROFL! Ummm nothing major mechanically, just a GReddy Profec B Spec-II, chipped ECU, slotted front rotors and rear strut brace for now. I've spent more time on the interior lining the whole rear seat and boot area with insertion rubber, making a full-boot floor, building a sub box, installing a dvd player and amp... the usual basic stuff. She's full of boost leaks atm so that's next on the agenda to look at after fitting a transmission cooler - I had the auto rebuilt and the valve body modified recently so the cooler is a necessity! (can you mod the Yaris valve bodies?) I've done all the work myself but I think I'll get a friend to help with ther trans cooler.

The Yaris is a great daily driver but it's really squeaky now once it's warm and it's starting to really annoy me :(

Well good thing it's nothing major!
Now I know who I'll be asking tips from once my uncle gives me his car.

I don't think anybody has modded the Yaris valve body yet, but it should be doable...

Haha for sure :) Is it a TT? If it is - mine is too and they're so much fun - especially when we go on the 300ZX cruises round the mountains and cane fields!! I'm lucky, mine only has 87000km on it so it's pretty mint too

Finally some Yaris only shots, but still pathetic :p At night, in my garage...

And just for the hell of it, my current progress on my Z. I have to remove the cam covers and reseal them. The oil is leaking out the VTC solenoid and cam covers:

While the plenum is off I figured I'd start polishing it... it's gonna take a while!
