Super quiet exhaust.
Looking for after market exhaust that is as quiet as the stock exhaust. No fart actions. Any suggestions?

"As quiet" means just as restrictive. Even the TRD axle-back is a little louder than stock.
What is your reason for wanting an aftermarket exhaust?

Free up the flow and maybe gain a tiny bit of power. I'll slowly keep on adding performance tid bits over the next year. If I can get 15hp more I'm good but don't want to sound like a wanna be race car.

any aftermarket exhaust will be louder. if you go custom with magnaflow muffler it should be quiet until about 3 grand on the tach and then start getting louder....but it's not loud. it's a nice low sound. it will resonate, but i dont have that exhaust yet so i cant tell you it's resonant rpm range.
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/streetmufflers.asp 14807 for round tips and 14833 for square tips. these are the mufflers i'll be using with a custom catback pipe. removing the resonator will make it louder, and also a header will make it loud. keep the resonator and go axle back for a quiet exhaust, but it's got more restrictions. |

i'd have to suggest the muffler i have: Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. If you plan on keeping your cats, then this thing would be perfect.

You could mimick the stock multi-pass set up by using two or three high performance mufflers. I'm not sure how many mufflers you can cram in the stock location, but going through three large diameter turbo mufflers might be pretty quiet. Rearward through the first, forward through the second, rearward through the third. |

I am looking for something similar, but I want it to be just a hair louder than stock. I had a random turbo muffler on a civic and liked the way it sounded, just the slightest bit of increase in sound and no resonance...I'm just not sure it will be exactly the same on the Yaris so i haven't pulled the trigger.

I love my Tanabe Touring Medalion. Just the right amount of pep when I'm accelerating and stays nice and quiet when I'm not.

While I agree with this statement, some aftermarket exhausts do get closer to others as far as volume levels. I've read that the Fujitsubo Wagolis is a good example of the quieter sort... also listened to a couple of youtubes.

The TRD exhaust I have is louder than the stock unit, it can be annoying any takes a while to get used to. Trust me.
BUT it looks great and is real sturdy so it won't rot out after a few snowy seasons.... I switched back to the stock muffler once to see the difference and man, that stock setup is real QUIET..... If you can't deal with any extra noise, then stay stock.

My 74 BMW 2002 would be at 5K at 100 k/h+ and with two glass packs it wasn't too bad but in town it was too loud for my liking and I efin hate fart can sounding exhausts, just seem ridiculous to have to listen so much noise in an econo box. I'll check out the TRD jdm one out. Thanks. |

^^ BAD NEWS on that end seeing as its around 700 bucks now with the conversion. When i bought mine back in 08 when toyota still had stock of them in the US i paid 400.
the USDM trd exhaust is 3 times louder than this jdm one and it doesn't have that coffee can look!
