I always ran 205/50/16's on lightweight wheels on stock suspension on both my Yaris. I think it was the ideal set-up for great handling and appearance. Don't run an aggressive tread if you want good straight-line tracking at high speeds with this little car. Look for a continuous centre rib tread design.

13, 14, 15, 16, 17..makes no differance on "gear ratio" and neither does 175, 185, 195, 205 etc its all about the middle number IE 195/"60"/14..60% of the width"195" is the total height of the tire..thats why the middle number is called the aspect ratio 195/60/14=23.2 175/70/14=23.6 225/45/15=23......way wide but still the same ratio 195/55/15=23.4 295/35/15.....10 inches wide but still the right height for the ratio LOL 205/45/16=23.3 196/40/17=23.1 i could go on and on... https://tiresize.com/calculator/ |

I never said the width changes the gear ratio. My cars speedo sensor was tuned for 17" factory allows and with my current 15's the speedo is reading just under the correct speed which means I have lowered the final drive ratio of the gearbox. At 100kph on the speedo the roadside speed display signs show me at 94-96kph. 17" made the car feel even more gutless down low and a little more floaty feeling. https://www.onallcylinders.com/2015/...l-drive-ratio/ |

Personally I use this calculator instead:
https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/ Not only does it show the tire size, it also shows necessary offset. What I didn't see mentioned are the supposed stock wheel/tire sizes of 175/65/R14 = 23 and 185/60R15 = 23.7 I discovered that there are two different speed sensor gears, mine has the one for 175/65/14, so my 185/60R15 tires makes my car go faster than what's indicated on the gauge cluster. Use the calculator provided to get to the closest stock tire size. If you want to get better gas mileage, get a bigger diameter wheel/tire combo. For acceleration, smaller diameter. |

Actually, it’s not my ECU/ECM, because I have a smart ODB gauge plugged in, which I can adjust the speed it displays, but I have it set to 100% and the speed it displays is accurate when compared to my GPS and the speed RADAR that I pass by on the way to work.

My obd2 display shows same as my speedo is reading, I have the JDM RS vitz dash installed that did not come with the car and I changed that second day I owned it so this could also be why mines a bit off.
