There was a thread on this car before the hack.

Like the Vitz (YarisHB), the IQ is sold by Toyota's Netz division in Japan.
I want one!!! Last edited by kimona; 11-16-2008 at 09:56 PM. |

Didn't we determine before that this car has air bags in the rear hatch? I thought that was really cool feature.

Uhhhhhhhh the Scion IQ in the US and I think the engine is still undertermined to be the 1.3 or 1.5 ....

Yep, I think Garm said it was coming out as a Scion...
it *is* the cutest thing and if I didn't have a couple of kids that needed a ride once in a while, I'd consider it. Oh..and then there's the snow... I guess I can love it but it just wouldn't be for me.

Here's some more pics. I love the iQ. But from what I understand, it will never pass crash tests here, even with the rear airbag, so no iQ downunder I'd buy one.

Fuel economy doesn't seem like much of an improvement over the Yaris considering, but as many people know, EPA and real life is totally different. Some people get over 200% of the epa on their vehicles and other get much less.
Check out the Toyota Japan site for a lot of the info, here's a direct link to the Japanese rated mileage on the IQ there. Keep in mind I've read that that Japanese setup is configured more for FE than even the European iQ is, so the NA iQ will probably be even worse: http://toyota.jp/iq/ecology/index.html |

The IQ also won Car of the Year in Japan. Now I just hope Fiat will bring the 500 here.

It's statistically proven that smaller cars are safer than SUVs and the hypothesis as to why is that it's easier to avoid hitting or getting hit when you're smaller and you don't have an over inflated opinion of your own safety in a sub compact either. While some of that logic applies to a smaller vehicle like a motorcycle, if you get hit on a bike, you're pretty much toast. |
