"Man of Steel" - Superman reboot - 12/12!

First still shot of the film was released today! Holy crap! This looks great. I love the dark, more aggressive suit. He looks properly muscular for the part, or at least the suit is padded nicely. Previous portrayals had only normal everyday physiques.

The studio decided to reboot the franchise once again after 2006's Superman Returns was meant with mixed reviews and relatively mediocre box office earnings for a movie that cost around $200 million to produce. Many complained about the cast and slow story line, although I was totoally fine with it. I personally loved it.

I was originally wishing for that cast to continue with a series of movies but I am now happy to see how this new reboot is shaping up. The darker look is great, and it promises to be much more action packed. Zod should prove to be a better enemy than Lex Luthor too. He presents a level playing field.

No way. This is Superman. Along with Batman, the most popular of comic/superhero franchises. Will it match the earnings of the Dark Knight? Of course not, but it can't flop. Even Superman Returns made about $160 million in the US alone. This one will likely do better.

Movies like the Green Lantern are destined for failure because they are the more obscure of comic book characters. There's very little fan base in these types of characters. I love superhero movies, and I didn't even see it.

I'm not a fan of Superman but that pic, and more importantly that cast list, looks great. I love Michael Shannon in Boardwalk Empire on HBO.

I agree with Kal-El this one won't tank. Too many Superman fans to crash and burn.

How badly did green light-bulb do?

Micheal Shannon as General Zod.

Amy Adams as Lois Lane

Clark Kent apparently doesn't sport glasses in the new film. Interesting.

Who knows what the deal is with this attire... (Kent on set)

Or this scene... :uh:

They showcased the trailer on Rise and tbh I wasn't enthused. Only time will tell. I know that Nolan will be involved in producing which will give it some legs, but normally a trailer such as the one I saw is supposed to entice you and begin the yearnings to see a masterpiece especially with such an icon...for me it just seemed meh.

Took the words right out of my mouth.
Costumes look pretty bad all around. I'll probably end up watching it on a rainy day anyways...

I think the idea is to simply tease and give the impression that this is a very different Superman movie, one that doesn't even look like a Superman movie. Much like Batman Begins didn't look like a Batman movie in the first half of the film. This movie will be similar.

Remember, this is still a year away from release. Won't be until next year until we see some real lengthy trailers that give more of a depiction.
