I think If this is not fixable I will get another Yaris. If I am able to get her fixed I am taking here to the dealership and demanding a free airbag check or whatever. It is BS that they didn't deploy esp at 35-40 mph. |

Even though things can be "fixed" if it were my car, I would be looking at getting a new one.

Don't be surprised if they total that car. That's a good $5k of damage there.
The van looks fine though..... Hope you feel better soon. :)

Glad you're OK! I think it looks like a fixer to me. I had a similar crash early on and it's fine now.
Oh, and... +1 P.S.: The airbags should have deployed under those conditions. I'm pretty sure something is wrong there... EDIT: after thinking about it a bit more, you probably weren't going fast enough for the airbag module to activate the airbags. This is actually a safety feature, according to my Toyota rep.

I don't think I'm gonna do any more mods ever to anything. If they could be destroyed this easily. Then screw that. Thanks, It was the Van the whole time. It tried to make a left turn too late. |

that damage should qualify for write off.. dont let them fix it have them write it off and get a new one..fixing the outer doesnt always fix the innerside of it. mostlikely frame is bent and they cant fix that..

Glad you are ok. This is why auto insurance is so darn expensive. Many drivers are only thinking of themselves and getting from point a to point b as quickly as possible. Sometimes there is a thin line as far as who is at fault.
When my Honda Civic was totaled in May, the other driver was driving a van, it was a blind intersection and I was turning into a filling station. I had no idea of the traffic coming up the hill because I could not see anything. It was still considered my fault. My point is, if the other person was not driving so fast she might have actually seen my car and not have done as much damage. Her excuse is that there was a truck in front of her. I never saw any truck, I was just making a left turn and did not see any traffic at all. I hope in your case the other driver is responsible for all the damage done to your car. |

Air bag deployment is not a benign event. When air bags first came out I used to see a lot of injuries related to the airbags. They are now much more sophisticated and less likely to deploy when you really don't need them. I'd say if you walked away, you really didn't need them! Glad you are ok-hope you feel better soon.

That was a such a nice Yaris. It looks fixable, but don't expect it to ever run 100% the same again if you keep it.
Glad you're okay anyways.
