cinema-what have you seen lately?

I am currently watching Krzysztof Kieslowski's THE DECALOGUE. This takes dedication; it is 10 1 hour films. He is one of my favorite directors. His stuff is great.

I am a film fanatic.

So what have you seen lately?

Transformers = Total awesomeness.

Pirates 3 = Awesome, but un-fulfilling ending

Rented "The Island" 2 nights ago, not bad. It's another Michael Bay, pre-shakey-camera technique.

We've been on a theater boycott since 1998, but rent movies often.

If you haven't seen "Pan's Labyrinth" yet I highly recommend it. It's subtitled (Spanish), and one of the best films we've seen in a long time.

I saw it and liked it. not as great as I wanted it to be but it was quite good.

I do not go the theater except for the Magnolia and Angelika on occassion.

These are some of my favorite foreign directors, I love subtitles!

Rainer Werner Fassbinder
Takashi Miike
Krzysztof Kieslowski
Pedro Almodóvar
Werner Herzog

I use Netflix these days.

some of my favorite Americans would be

John waters
Jim Jarmusch
Andy Warhol/Paul Morrissey
Woody Allen
H.G. Lewis

and many many more

Saw Transformaers last nite, took the kids and splurged. I was glad too, that movie was the best I'd seen in some time. Of course, I only go out to the movies about once every six months or so. Only complaint: that gaggle of giggling teenage girls running back and forth, all through the first 20 mins or so. One of them actually fell on the floor at one point: I got the attendant and he silenced them. Upon leaving, they mouthed off behind us, but by then I had the post-movie shock going on and really didn't care

I see you are keeping up with the mainstream. Nothing wrong with that. Did you enjoy any of these movies?

1408 looks to be the most interesting to me, I'm sure I'll catch that on DVD

I've been crawling the web for Hitchcock movies... love Hitchcock. So far I've found Marnie & Dial M for Murder. Next quest is Rear Window (so far all the links are dead).

in the past 2 weeks i seen
transformers: it was ok. i wouldn't have cared for it if i wasn't such a big fan as a young kid. but nowhere near as good as i was hoping. acting was cheezy and the "transformation" from car/plane to robot left something to desire. wait for rental.

pan's labyrinth: great movie. good acting and storyline. a must see.
english substitles for all you non-spanish speakers!

big nothing: good comedy. the ending was not to my liking' but i would recomend it to anyone.

maria full of grace: a movie about humans being used a cocaine mules. what people go through and the life that it creates. good movie.

21 Grams: i have seen this movie about 4 times in the past year and it continues to get better. great acting by sean penn and benicio del toro. watch it.

and last amores perros: spanish movie with english subtitles. combining 4 different stories from one plot, if you can deal with the subtitles, it'll be worth the time.
