Talking 205-65-15 wet traction tires

OK guys so my gf's tires are crap for wet weather and pretty much any weather in general. I need advice on a new set and she doesn't want to break the bank. She wants to stay around or under 300 with install so any help with this would be appreciated. Oh and its a stratus so she wont need any crazy handling just safe tires.

A 205/65 would be too tall. I'd stick with a 185/60, 195/60 or a 205/55. Keep in mind, that as a general rule, the wider the tire the less "wet weather" friendly they tend to be.

take a look at tirerack, they'll be able to give you a good idea. Are there any brands you like? Besides a few really crappy brands, at this point most are decent.

I know these are a little bit above your price point, but they are a 60k mile tire (which will double the life of those Falken 912's) and they have excellent dry and wet traction. I have them on my Yaris and love them.

Just buy some 195/55 or 195/60 tires... our tires suck in general, so almost anything is better. I'd go Falken 912, but I've heard they are bad in the snow. If you gf lives in tx, there is nothing to worry about then, so no worries.

General Altimax HP

It's not the best in any category, but it's very good overall, and cheap as dirt. WalMart stocks them (though maybe a special-order for that size), so they're easy to get without doing the Tire Rack shipping-fu shuffle.
