eeeeeeeeeek!
sh.. we just had an earthquake!! 4.1 quake rocks the Bay Area http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...EVPU.DTL&tsp=1 That was just a little one, maybe just to keep us humble and remind us to stock up on emergency supplies so we can be prepared when the Big One hits. ugh |

I do OK with earthquakes during the day, knock on wood.
Those that wake you in the middle of the night are a different story. |

We've had a swarm in our area too sharing the the same fault line last year, which can be a sign of a big one on the way (that's how we had Northridge 16 years ago). Nothing's happened yet, but anyday now...

4.1?
Wake me up when you have a real earthquake. A 4.1 is a fart in the middle of the night that makes you turn over in bed.

I agree 4.1 is small but if you happen to be right at the epicenter, then you feel it real well. I should know, I live on the Hayward fault.
We're all waiting for the "Big One" to hit. We're 20 years overdue. Over the past couple of years, I've seen more and more "classes" and ads on the buses, etc., about getting prepared for it. Scary. |

It's not something to look forward to! I had moved to San Jose two days before that big one back in '89. It's not something I care to ever experience again.

Oh, you were in San Jose at the time? Yeah, you must have felt it real well.
I was in Marin, still driving my Honda Civic 1st gen. The earthquake and the aftershock tossed that little car around for what seemed like minutes (of course it was over sooner than that). Fortunately, I was stopped at the time, reading on campus, waiting for my night class to start, so it wasn't too scary. People in the tall buildings in the SF Financial District, people underground, and just about everywhere anything can fall on them got really, really scared. And then of course, who can forget this |

I can say that I'm lucky not to have experienced one during any of my trips to Cali over the years

Yeah it was very minor. Barely even felt it. Simular to a large truck driving by just shook the ground slightly.

SF bay area is a good spot to visit. I've been there myself. If you get a chance to visit Solvang thats a nice place to stop and see also, but its quite a drive from SF :\
