My last vehicle: '94 Toyota Pick-up (totalled-I miss my truck!) would knock on less than high grade 91-93. Out of habbit I put 93 in the Yaris the first two tanks. I Started putting in 87 after that and have noticed NO difference in performance. The main difference I have noticed is I have more $$ in my pocket after a fill-up.

thats what I was wondering, I upped my octane in my truck and noticed a smoother accel.. so i just cont using it in my yar... I'll fill up with 87 next tank.

WTF is the point of Toyata making an econobox if it requires high octane?

WTF is the point of buying an econobox and using high octane?

The car was built and designed to run the lowest/cheapest fuel at the pumps (87 octane). Using anything higer is just silly and does nothing for mileage or performance. All the other stuff about it burning hotter is a myth, all the stuff about it giving more power and better mpg is a myth.
It has a higher flash point, something we don't need in our little low compression, low HP engines

I have a great deal on ocean front property in Manitoba for all you high octane users.

Anyway, I moticed that when using 91 the engine knocks a bit.

And when using anything higher then 87, I notice that when I turn the car off, its reving just a little higher and the engine stops in a wierd way.
When using 87 it stops smoothly.....

Anyone else notice this when trying higher grade gas?

Oh and to top it all off; I see less MPG with anything above 87 as well.

87, did put some 94 once in a long while, just to see if it makes any different, and obviously it didn't. ha ha.
