Help. Anyone else with window scratch issues?
Hi all, long time no yap. *wave*
I got my '08 liftback in Oct of 07 so I've had it for just over a year now. The problem is that there are tiny scratches showing up on the front windshield. They're really small, not deep at all and are all about 3 inches. There does not appear to be any pattern to them (some horizontal, some vertical). I can only see the scratches if the angle of the sun is just right; otherwise they're invisible. Any ideas? If it was scratched from dirt being on the wiper blades then I would think the scratches would all be in a pattern that follows the path of the wiper blades. Anyways I don't think modern windshield would ever scratch so easy that the typical amount of "whatever" on a wiper blade would ever scratch a windshield or else every windshield on every car would be scratched up. Anyone else having this problem? thanks in advance |

Well from my understanding, the Yaris has pretty soft glass on it. It scratches and knicks really easily. There used to be a few good threads on this topic before the "Great Crash of 08". Maybe a few other people can chime in and offer ways to maybe help in ideas of prevention or repair.

I am not in the glass business but I would say you should go to a good large scale glass shop and ask about it. I would ask a pro and not toyota either.

Keep seeing little scratches too sometimes, but then they seem to go away on their own. Not sure what the deal is

Sounds like a plan. I just bought my car in Apr, hoping to keep it for some years and this bizness ain't gonna make it. I'm not too happy about the paint either.

J.C. Whitney sells a kit to remove very light scratches from glass.

I guess the good news is that the angle of oncoming headlights when driving at night is NOT the angle that shows the scratches (at least for me). Little consolation but still at least it's something. |

Mine are real. It's definitely from scraping the frost and it's nothing different than I've done with every other car I owned. I'll take 427chev's advice and look into that product.
