Since I am still in the planning stage of what is turning into a costly project (bordering on about R100 000), I have decided to make a few changes. I am looking at dropping Toyotas 4AGZE engine into the car, leaving the super charger on and then turboing it. The drive train is all important here as the 17" rims (for reference, I'm looking at Enkei RP03s) I want to put on the car require a different bolt pattern to the standard Yaris wheels.

However, since this is the ICE part of the forum, my biggest questions must be posted here. I want to see if it's possible to fit 4 bucket seats into the car with a 15" woofer in the boot. Any suggestions? I also need to know what the best method for redesigning the door panels and rear speaker panels so that I can fit a 10" sub and a 6.5" mid into the rear panel and a 6x9" and 6.5" speaker into the door panel. My concern here is the weight of the speakers. I need to know how to attach my custom panels in such a way that they won't just vibrate off the car. With a 15" and 2 10" subs sitting in this tiny space, there are going to be many good vibrations. That's the hope anyway. I am looking at doing a full Infinity install that will use a PC based platform to run. So basically my head unit is a fully functioning computer, touch screen of course. My aim is to make Windows Media player (or similar) the operating system and then to use the rest of the PC's processing power to handle the HUD as I've said below.

The biggest problem I am currently sitting with is that once I put the 4AGZE engine in, all of the HUD electronics go to sh*t. Can anyone tell me how the pickups work for the speedo and rev counter. Also, some info about how the petrol gauge ( the one that shows how much is left in the tank) would be appreciated. I'm not worried about the fuel consumption and average speed indicator. It's worth noting that I am hoping to install a small PC in the car to handle the electronics since the car's computer will be removed and timing control done with a 3rd party system. All I need to do is make sure that the HUD works. I have a good programming background and with some blood, sweat, tears and notes from a Digital Systems course that I did as part of my studies, I will be able to code the system. I just need to know what kinds of inputs and outputs I will need to mak uase of. The plan is to eventually do away with the green display that is standard on the Yaris (see attachment) and put a small LCD screen in that will display the HUD in the same way that your PC screen dispays text.

Any suggestions for this project are welcome! As soon as November is finished, I will have my diploma in Electrical Engineering and hopefully a salary that complements that. Then the project should find it's feet and I can be done with the major work by the middle of next year.
