Interior light control

New Yaris owner - question about the interior light dimmer. (the switch to the left of the steering wheel) Mine seems to do nothing. It's SUPPOSED to fade the brightness of the dash, right?

Also, no lights on the shift stick, right? (automatic)

The dimmer rheostat only work when the headlights are on. Also, the AT shift illuminates with the headlights.

Ah, you know, I don't think I even turned the headlights on since they came on as daytime running lights. Makes sense, thanks for the clarifcation!

Whatever you do, don't drive at night with just the DRLs. When they are on the tail lights are not.

Very good to know, thanks. My other car's day time running lights also kicks on the brake lamps so I've never actually turned on the headlights by the switch. It also has some sort of sensor that automatically turns on the dash lights depending on the light outside.
